The Baby Hoover

Hi, I am new to the forum. My vacuum ties go back to my father who retired from the Hoover Company and I worked summers at the Hoover lodge and park. I recently came across a hoover sweeper that I am struggling to find info on. It was found in an attic within 10 miles of the old Hoover Company in North Canton. The badge is embossed "The Baby Hoover" / "No. B/ "THE HOOVER SUCTION SWEEPER CO. NEW BERLIN, OHIO". I Can find info for the "Hoover Baby", but not the "Baby Hoover"? It also has an odd dust bag stamped "made for / HOOVER/ VAC/ by / A.R.W. Co. I am interested in rareity and value of this style. I plugged it in and it works. The cord is surely not original. The bag has a hole in the back. I made a repair to the cast iron of the left wheel.

It's extremely rare, and for someone out there...valuable! Great Find!!!

Baby Hoover

I believe that is the model 184, according to the serial #. Someone else may tell you the exact year, but around 1912? Very rare as mentioned, only made 2,799 of them according to the serial # range. Quite valuable.

Great News, Boys and Girls!!!!!!!

This marvelous specimen of "early HOOVER" has found a new home.  It now resides in the home of my very dear friend,  the one and only Mr. Tom Anderson of North Canton, Ohio. It will grace his wonderful collection along so many other specimens.  If any of you has seen his collection, you'll agree that it is truly a spectacle..... almost a museum in itself.


 When I visit Tom later this summer, I'm sure he'll have it looking and operating at peak efficiency.  I'll surely take photos, perhaps even of me running it.  Won't that be "fun"?


  Just think:  a "HOOVER BABY" and a "Baby HOOVER" in the same home. Hoover..."You'come a long way, Baby".

that's got to be one of the oldest hoover i've ever seen on the forum here, next to the model o, and certainly much more rare. im glad tom's getting it john. i talk with him for a few hours on the phone the other day.. wonderful amount of hoover knowledge and passion for the company. i have a similar passion for delta airlines myself..

Did you see the "Vintage Antique Hoover Vacuum Cleaner". ebay item #191638003949 it's a Baby Hoover. The motor is turned 90 degrees from where it should be.
