Looks like new after you were done Bobby! Aren't you glad you got it ;) You can never have to many pics, a YT video wouldn't hurt either =~)

Thanks guys.... Brimmer, I found the dusting brush, bare floor tool, and side kick, but that crevice tool doesn't seem to be anywhere. I want to get all of them at once! Thanks for the advice, I did see the Gaurdian tools so I know what they should look like now. I guess any sidekick that says "Sidekick 2" should work, right?

Kenny (I still have stuff to send you, good heavens I've been lazy, but I haven't forgotten!) yes, I am VERY glad I got it. This was a better deal than my 60 dollar Sentria and 20 dollar Miele Plus.... I love getting high end vacs for almost nothing! All the junk I've had to weed though to get these, it's nice to get lucky every now and then. I check Craig's List every day! Usually it's just Bissell Powerforces and Kirby G4s! I do feel a Youtube video coming on... maybe I should compare to the Diamond Jubilee in a little cleaning test. I don't use canisters very often, but I think this is going to be my daily driver for along time... the power and quality feel are too hard to put down. I turn 27 on Friday so this is going to count as my birthday present to myself..... not quite as expensive as the 500 dollar sewing machine and Hoover Steam Vac I got for myself last year, but I think I'll enjoy it just as much :o) Since I saved so much on the machine itself, I don't mind splurging on the attachments, if I can find them.

OK I just got attachments.... I got the crevice tool right from Aerus because it was only 5.95. The rest I got in the Ebay auction that I'm providing a link to.... these should fit, right?

I kind of wanted the dedicated bare floor tool rather than the flip tool, but when I saw the difference in price, and that this set included the sidekick, I had to get it. Of course I'll have 2 upholstery nozzles now! When this machine was new, did it come with the flip tool, or the dedicated bare floor tool? What did this machine go for when it was new?

Thanks :o)

it came with a floor tool, the flip tool in dark gray was an option and rare. original price i dont know, prob in the 1200 range or so but this is an educated guess

the after filter is under the tool rack, electrostatic

Tell me about this Electrolux please

My Epic 8000 came with the dedicated floor tool but Electrolux sent me in the mail the flip-over rug/floor tool with in the first 3-4 months on ownership.
The paper work said they were now including the flip over rug/flor tool with their top of the line sweeper.
Not sure what yours cost new but my Epic 8000 was over $1200.00 new from the Electrolux man. I found a flyer with both the polisher and the Epic 8000 and the posted price was $1739.00 for BOTH units.

Looks great, thanks for posting

Your Electrolux looks wonderful. I have wanted a newer model for awhile now something a little more powerful than the 1205. I have checked eBay a lot lately. You got such a great deal.

Glad to hear that is quiet. Love my Hoovers for carpet, but I am "true blue" Electrolux.

Thanks guys :o) I'm excited to get the attachments.... I may not use my other machines for a long time as I am falling head over heals for this thing. I used it tonight after work, and I was doing the throw rugs in the bathroom... turned it on low, and it did a fine job until I got a little too close to the edge.... then it sucked the rug up in the power nozzle and the overload kicked in instantly. Before I could event think about turning the machine off! I hit the button and was back in business. The only thing I don't like is that it's hard to turn in tight areas because of the stationary wheels on the side and long body... but still LOVE it! Everything about the way this machine feels and looks screams quality and power. Even straight suction on a bare floor with the power nozzle is great... it gets right up to the edges and has a low profile for getting under toe kicks.... I know know how many uprights I've scratched due to their high profile and hitting toe kick in the kitchen and bathroom (s/p Windtunnel, Dyson DC 14, and Eureka Smart Vac all come to mind).

Kloveland, the Guardians and Reniasances on Ebay are a little crazy as far as price goes, aren't they? That's funny that you are "true blue" with Electroluxes... I've never been loyal to just one brand, and can't say I have a favorite.... I adore almost all vacuums (except non-vintage dirt devils, Hoover Elites and cheap/modern Bissells).... Have you made any more Youtube videos since your first one? I thought you did a good job with that one, and I meant to check back and see if you did any more, but I forgot your name on there.

Bobby the attachments you bought were quite a steal, that combination floor tool alone retails for around $75 and Im sure the SideKick II is close to that also. I have a rug rat for my central vac but I loved the sidekick that I had with the Electrolux. I cant really tell what condition your brush roll is in from the picture but the new brush roll has an extra turn of bristles and really improves how well the machine cleans. I put on in my Epic 6000 along with a belt and light bulb and I think my bill was around $60. I love my 6000 and I liked my 6500 but the Renny definately has a more sturdy feel to it and a much more elegant look.

Electrolux has always been very popular where I live while vacs like Rainbow or Tristar are few and far between. Anyone who valued a clean home and dependability and had the $$ to spend had an Electrolux. We had a housekeeper for over 15 years and of course I would ask her about what kind of vacuums her other clients had. She cleaned a variety of homes, some of an average size and some multi-million dollar large homes. She always said that almost all of them had an Electrolux unless they had central vacuum, and only one of them had a Kirby. My housekeeper was amazing and she didnt beat the crap out of the vacuums she was allowed to use (either she was afraid I would scream at her or because my family had such a great relationship with her) but some are very rough on vacs. While Electrolux is a high end machine, I dont feel that they can out clean something like a Miele, but they can and often do take a beating and keep on going. They really do stand up to the abuse considering that they are plastic bodied machines. Good luck with your Renaissance and Im glad to hear you like it, that model was a huge turning point in modern Electrolux design and introduced many new features to the brand.

Brushroll

I just checked on totalvac.com and they have the genuine new style brush roll for under $11, I think mine was about 50. It says that they purchased a large quanity of them at very discounted price. I think im going to buy one for my Diamond Jubilee and maybe and extra one incase I purchase another machine. Check out the link

Thats ok Bobby

I know the feeling lol. I havn't quite got my house back together yet so im not in a rush. Great deal on the attchments. Its very rare that you can get a good deal on a lux nevermind a Reniasance, complete attachment set, great working cond. and bags for 125 bucks.

Hey guys, before this thread dies, I wanted to say a special thanks to Rob, Nathan, and Steven, and both Kennys... I appreciate all your responses and they were very helpful. This is sometimes a slow moving forum, and sometimes posts go completely unanswered, so I do sincerely appreciate people who take the time to respond. Thank you so much!

I still adore the machine and can't wait for the attachments to get here. I think this was the best purchase I've ever made! I wish I had ACRES of carpet to vacuum with it, because I never want to stop! If the hose or any part of it breaks, I will fix it no matter the cost, because I never what to be without this thing, what a treasure!

thanks :o)

Tell me about this Electrolux please!

Bobby,
Thanks for sharing your story. I think this will be a classic Electroux as the years go by just because it was one of the last true Electolux designs and it has such a true Electrolux "feel" and "sound".
It is like some of the other machines. XXX,g's and Hoover Convertibles,Dail-a-matic's and Constellations. They may not be your favorite sweeper but you can always learn something new from the vac forum thread!
Here is my Electolux Epic 8000 and one of my favorites too.

Wow, Rob, that looks great! I just realized that I paid the same amount for my Diamond Jubilee that I did for this Renaissance! I've had the DJ for 8 years now... I got it when I was 19 and turned 27 yesterday, man it doesn't seem that long! I actually got it from a customer when I sold vacs at Sears. I sold a lady a direct drive Kenmore upright because she was sick of her canister Lux, and I mentioned something about collecting old vacuums. She said she was going to sell her old one at a yard sale to benefit cancer research and if I'd just write a check to the American Cancer Society for 25 dollars and give it to her she'd bring me the machine.... it included a brand new box of 25 germgrabber C bags (still have most of them!), a crevice tool, the power nozzle and floor/flip tool. I didn't use it much because it was whiny and not very powerful (I got my Rainbow SE much the same way, but that time I sold the lady Progressive bagged canister and had to pay 75 dollars). However, this Renaissance is more powerful than my Miele Plus... the agitator is definitely better and it has more suction than any vacuum I own. I just missed the UPS man because I was sleeping, but my attachments or crevice tool are waiting for me at the apartment office!

Happy Birthday Bobby!

Wow that was fast delivery for your attahments. I think you are going to like the Sidekick, I love my powermate Jr'. Id like to find a Rainbow onw tho caus they have the cogged type belt. Can you (or someone lol)tell me of the Sidekick has a cogged belt? My PM jr is great but the belts suck and they are expensive, so I cut a DD handvac belt in half and that works better and cheaper but I know im damaging the motor using that belt.
K

I'll let you know when it arrives.... is was the darn crevice tool that came straight from Aerus today! I've never used a crevice tool in my life, but if a vacuum has on board attachments, I want them.... it feels naked without them!

We bought a Guardian 75th Anniversary edition when they came out. I wished the Renaissance had still been available. I love the Guardian, but dislike the kludgy HEPA afterfilter. It ruins the line of the design, and if you break the flimsy clips that hold it in place, you have no choice but to replace it or deal with the exhaust blowing straight up at you. I like the dark gray color of the Renaiisance a bit better too.

Ranaissance/Guardian wheel placement

is similar to the wheel placement on Postal equipment known as "Floats' or "Nutting Trucks" The fixed side wheels and swivel wheels on the end allow the truck to be maneuvered within a zero turning radius.

Bobby,
Im so glad that I could be of any help. Its nice to be able to contribute something on this forum once and a while, and not be the one asking questions. There are so many knowledgable members who are just a walking library with a wealth of information on so many vacs. We are the same age, Ill be 27 the end of December, and its funny how quickly time goes by. I remember when the Renaissance came out and then when Electrolux introduced the Guardian. The Renny and Epic 8000 are more beautiful than the Guardian with its after thought after filter sticking out of the top of its lovely shapely body. Electrolux may not offer the best preformance on the market but they still make a great vac that can take the abuse and keep on going. Its a shame they discontinued the Renaissance body style, its much better looking than the new Guardian Ultra. Best of luck with your Electrolux and Happy Vacuuming! You really got a great deal and a vac that should give you great service for many years to come!
~Steven
