electrolux-dudes twin vacuum ,was that factory??? appears to used a kitchen sink drain tee & fittings ,great work ,I love a modified thing like that "MORE POWER!!!!"
The experiment was a bit of a disappointment btw. I had thought that connecting two vacuum cleaners together would double the suction. It did not. There was -some- increase but negligible. Someone told me this was because this was made from a matched set of vacuum cleaners; that if I used ones with different suction strengths it would have worked better.
If I am not mistaken, the hookup of these two machines as they are should have increased the airflow (CFM) but not the suction (airlift.) If you hooked them up back-to-back (in series) instead of in tandem (parallel), the airlift would have increased I believe but in tandem, the airflow should have almost doubled. This is a principle used in the design of central vacuums. Old Filtex units could be had with two motors and fans either in parallel which increased the airflow or in series which increased the suction or vacuum. See the brochure page below. Notice the two machines on the bottom left. The TS-300 is in tandem (series) and the waterlift is 140" while the airflow is 115 CFM. The same motors in parallel next to it (TSP-300) produces and waterlift of 90" with an airflow of 180 CFM. More choices back then. The contemporary machines all feature high airflow. BTW don't you love those machined aluminum tools and metal inlets. I had one of those machines back in the day. Loved the quality. Fred Stachnik was here with Jeff Parker this weekend and he tried out the Filtex tools. I think he was impressed. OK, I have run on about the mouth enough. Any more interest in vintage central vacuums? I have more literature.
Mine consisted of my Air-Way 88 Mk. II ingeniously connected to my Kirby hose to the "bag" end of the Kirby Heritage, although any Kirby would work. This vac(s) is/are great! It now has a super brush roll and very powerful suction! Amazing! I may just need an invitation to the VCCC meet so I can try it out ! Reggie, Corey, anyone? Thanks! Maybe I will get a picture soon! It is pretty "neat!" (and funny looking!)
this is a demo unit( has a light in the filter compartment top window.& a window in the dust collection bucket I got it from the guy I worked for in 1998 ,I helped install them for him
