hey all..

i found this pic from my child hood of my two tan gs and pn 1's....is this the original power nozzel to this machine and another came with the other tank that had a one pice sheath but the same head....or can someone post pics of the correct pn ....

Yep I would say that is correct. The hood is just slightly tan with a brown bumper. Kind of rare in my opinion.

Here are some photos of my tan G and my tan Hospital G ("Hi Marty").

These photos show the original and correct attachments. The power nozzle has a long, non-detachable wand with an off-white, full-length sheath, as did all the earlier PN1s.

The version with the detachable partial-sheath wand did not come out until the second version of the 1205 introduced in 1970.

(btw Electrolux's official color-name for this model was "bronze.")

(Note - The white PN cord in the above photo is a replacement. The original cord is the same beige color as the rubber and plastic trim on the rest of the machine.

OTOH, after seeing this Electrolux flyer, I may be wrong about the color of the PN cord. Maybe some were white and some were beige, but I don't recall ever seeing any white ones!

Jason, I have the same (i.e. detachable) PN I with my brown G, and I've seen quite a few others with the blue elbow as well. Perhaps Electrolux refitted customers' PNs so they could use the newer telescopic or sheath wand that came with the 1205. Certainly makes more sense than that long, flimsy, plastic wand (although I do think it looks nice).

More likely, the blue fitting and detachable wand were provided when the original wand broke. The plastic wands are pretty flimsy; and they become even more brittle as they age. I have an F and several G PN1s and I have to treat them as if they're made of glass. As it is, most of them have developed hairline cracks at the bottom where the plastic wand is attached to the metal neck piece. I had another one that I accidentally dropped on the floor and the motor housing shattered to bits -- just like glass.

First 1205 and first turqu. Model L's also have a white one piece sheath on a turquoise PN1?

Yes. The first 1205 still had the original PN1 with the long plastic wand, as did the white and tan L. I'm not sure about the dark turquoise L but assume its power nozzle changed over at the same time the 1205's did.

Obviously, the reason for the change was because so many of the plastic wands started breaking. Even when they were new. The plastic material was not sturdy enough to hold up against vigorous use and would start cracking and breaking at the bottom. Of course, when people used the power nozzles as they were supposed to, making "slow, easy motions, letting the power nozzle do the work" as the instructions advised, not a one of them would have broken!

Does anyone have the first-first-first version of the PN1 that does not have the spring-locking end? I don't think I've ever seen one, just heard about it. That was a problem that the company apparently caught very quickly (that the hose handle would slide around and even slip out), as the spring-lock was added very early on.
