Tan Electrolux Model G Worth?

At the Aerus dealer I frequent, the owner wants to get rid of some of the older stuff. Among some of the stuff is a tan Electrolux Model G. It’s in ok shape, and will probably clean up quite well. Both the vacuum and the matching power nozzle work well. It has all of the attachments. They aren’t all original, but they match. The hose is a genuine corrugated Aerus hose. It’s not original but it matches. It has a matching wiring harness as well. Everything has a bit of scuffing, but it’s nothing an S.O.S pad can’t fix. All of the wheels match, but one is glued back on. No dings or dents on the main body either. Also, there is a Model 30 with all of the original accessories and the original hose. The Model 30 isn’t shiny, but it works well. It has most of the optional accessories as well as the standard accessories. The only thing it doesn’t have is the companion. Anyone know how much these are worth?

As many on this site have said over the years "It's what someone is willing to pay." The dealer might let it go for little or big. Seller and buyer both factor into the deal.

Most Model G's in your average "As found" condition sell on eBay for roughly $40-$50 and that's with shipping included. Not sure if the tan color is any rarer, I think it means it was a rebuilt/refurbished model. I mean yo can use the fact that none of the attachments are original and the wheel is glued on to haggle the price down.

The problem is, he wants $200 for Model Gs! He gave people a $200 trade in for them, so he wants at least $150 for any Aerus Electrolux in there. AFAIK the tan models were not rebuilds. The tan ones were the later Model Gs. You must be thinking of the brown Olympia-colored Gs, which were rebuilt around the time in the Olympia. I don’t know if he is willing to let go of that Model V yet. Keep in mind it doesn’t have any of the attachments and the hose is a Hoover Elite II hose. I may try to talk him into selling it.

it doesn't matter how much they give for a trade. That price is wiggle room built into the price they took off the new vacuum .

Example the vacuum cost them $500 they sell it for $1,500 and take $200 off for trade still making over 50% . Offer them $50-100 if it's in good condition walk away if they decline maybe they'll call you back later.

He says he wants to get rid of some older stuff, but he doesn’t want to sell it for less than the trade in price. There would be no way I could get anything Electrolux for less than $200. Considering most of the stuff there is in bad cosmetic shape, $200 is just out of the question for me.

You probably want to avoid buying anything from rip off artists disguised as dealers. Last week, I was given a virtually new-in-the-box tan model G by a good friend. He bought it at an ESTATE SALE for $20. Estate sales are where you want to look for vintage cleaners, you can get them for the right price and most of the time all the pieces are there and match. Let the dealer throw his cootie-infested machines into the dumpster when he goes out of business.

That right there is EXACTLY why the back of his shop is so full of vacuum trade-ins! When I was there, he had a ton of them then, and that’s been several years ago! I purchased a functional Silverado from him for $50, so you might be able to use that as a starting point. At that time, the Aerus Guardian Platinum had been on the market a few years. When I mentioned it to him, he said he wasn’t carrying that model because nobody could afford to buy one......I kept my mouth shut, but thought “this is Lexington, Kentucky.....if nobody here can afford one, then something is BAD wrong!!” Haven’t been back since!

He’s really nice, probably one of the best dealers in KY. I can’t believe he gave you a Silverado for $50! He usually cleans those up and sells them for $499. He’s not going anywhere anytime soon. He’s been doing this for 40 years.

He will sell any metal bodied machine like that for $499 if it’s in good shape. He’s asking $500 for an Olympia and $500 for a Silverado Special. But people do buy them, but they can stay up on the sales floor for up to a year before someone buys it. He’s really nice and I want to support a local business, but I can’t spend $200 on a 50 year old vacuum.
