Sweedish Electrolux ZA30a

My turn to be excited A parcel arrived in this mornings mail from a friend (and fellow collector) from Belgium - Edgar VanDerKlein (his web site is http://users.skynet.be/edsstofzuigers/ ). I've been waiting on pins an needles for this machine to arrive since well before Christmas. The first time he sent it it was returned to him with the box damaged and a couple of parts missing so this is the second try. At least this time it got through and, aside from the missing pieces, the only damage is a broken fin on the exhaust which I have a replacement for. All in all a great addition to my collection.

Do any of you have any of the following spare parts for the European Electrolux's that I could trade something for (I have a fair stock of Canadian Electrolux repair parts).
ZA30 - Crevice tool (Grey), Sprayer (Black)
ZC90 - Rug/Floor nozzle, Crevice tool (Sage Green)
ZC330 - Dusting Brush/Small nozzle, Brush for Crevice tool (Charcoal Grey)
U247 (Dometic/Volta) - Crevice tool and Crevice tool brush (Black)
U505 (Dometic/Volta) - Rug/Floor, Crevice tool (mustard/white)

Also I'm looking for books or copies of books for the Z24, ZA30, ZC90, ZC330,U247 and U505

Kidding of course, Doug. We all share a bit of your thrill at holding such an anticipated item in your own hands. Swaddled in LUXurious maroon patina-ed leatherette, no less. Mmm, yummy.

And the equivalent year & model of the Canadian version would be...?

Same sled runners as the canadians?

Hey guys

Rick - the elbow came with all the delux machines Electrolux Europe put out into the early 50's. It was used on the dusting brush to get into difficult places (Eg the top of a bookcase). It was also an optional accessory for the Canadian machines of the same period. I believe the model 30 was 1939 to 1948 (with production discontinued during the war)

Dave: The Canadian Model 30 was based on this design and shares alot of parts in common with the Sweedish Model 30 but ours had the runners on it while this machine has two metal channels (skids) attached to the bottom of it. Personally I like the reddish brown of this model 30 better than the grey of the Canadian one.

Another interesting item I discovered about it tonight. While the Canadian dusting brush looked the same our bristles were set into a plastic base while this one is a metal base.

Electrolux Z30

Hi Doug, congratulations on another addition to your fine collection,the Z30 was the building block of Electrolux`s door to door sales in hear in the UK, along with the later & similar Z55.. a long production run indeed between them..

Have printed off your list and will search through the stash for spares...I definately dont have the Z90 green floor brush, I know of only one here, rather rare indeed...

Hi Mike:

Thank you very much. Just looking at your picture - did the smaller floor brush also come with the 30? It was with the one I have too as well as a second rug nozzle (both rug nozzles were exactly the same) but all the pictures I have only show the floor brush with the swivel. The smaller brush in black, however, is shown with the model 116.

What wattage was the 30,was it the same as the 55 (the UK 55 was 400 w)?

Was it on the 55 that Lux changed the design of the carpet nozzle to that awful heavy thing that leaked ?

I was using the 'flip- over' carpet nozzle on my nilfisk the other day with the angled elbow for under a low piece of furniture.....that nozzle is great with any machine !!

Hi Walter:

My ZA30 is 275W - 220-225V serial number is C88 23136 if that means anything.

I'm sure we could work out something for the shipping costs as long as they are reasonable (LOL - this machine cost 36.00 Euros from Belgium - I had a guy a few month back try to tell me that a dusting brush from England was going to be 20 pounds to ship - just didnt ring right - hmmmmm.....dont recall asking for a lead brick with it)

How much is the za 30 worth ???

There is no easy answer to that question. Collecting vacuums is a very specialized area and, as you can see, there are not a lot of collectors.

What you can get depends number of factors.
- What shape the machine is in.
- Are all the parts original or have some been replaced.
- Are all the original accessories with it and in good shape.
- Is the hose original
- Is the paper work with it
And, most importantly - who is collecting that style of machine and how much will they have to pay for shipping.

If you are lucky and several people are interested in it you may get a good price. Otherwise its just an old used vacuum and that goes for $10 - $50.
