So my Partner (who does not share my passion for vacuums)
comes home this past weekend and says he has been to the thrift store and found a neat Hoover vacuum for 99 cents.....this is what he found.

Made my day! :)

Model 115
S/N- 8562576

I am guessing this is a replacement bag.....Wouldn't the original have been dark brown...like the 28?
This bag looks good and is in great condition.

Runs strong, bearings sound like they need cleaned and greased.
same for the brushroll bearings.

Some rust on the rug plate & brushroll.....

Also needs a belt, which I am sure is NLA....any ideas what might work?

Also guessing this from the early 50's......

Any other info would be great.....Thanks

Pic 6

Looks like a possible service/rebuild date of 4/78....
Also a local address that is a block from where my Grandparents used to live.

I was surprised that this didn't have any kind of height adjustment.....it is surprisingly hard to push on this short shag carpet.....it does have great suction!

Fabulous!

The Hoover 115 was made from 1948 to 1953. Yours is probably a later one based on that serial number.

Yes, the bag has been replaced. Originally it would have been darker brown. Belts are (should be) available for those still.
Check your local vac store. Hoover part number is 046550AG or 46550.

Those are fun little machines!

Its UK Cousin

Was Model 119 built from 1950-1956

There is height adjustment- unscrew the back wheels and turn the block they are attached to upside down ;)

Heres one of my 119s :)

The belt....

Is the same for every model Junior/Lightweight from this version upto the U1012/U1025.

If you have problems check UK Ebay- theres always loads on there !

Brush strips

Yay! The belts for this were easy enough to find, I found them on eBay but also was surprised to see them at the Hoover store, Hoover.com.

But, looks like new brush strips for the brush roll are going to be a real challenge.
If anyone out there knows where to find them, please let me know.

Isn't there someone who does Brush re-bristling? I thought I read about it in one of the past threads....I have been searching the archives but have not been able to find it.

Any info would be appreciated.....Hope you all had a great 4th Holiday......
