well folks. I Just discovered a new way to test suction of one vacuum to another. or have I? you see it all started when I hooked a hose from the inlet of one vacuum to another. the results were shocking. but is it fair and accurate? the test was between a Kirby sani 7 and a early hoover sp wind tunnel I hooked them both together both empty of course as to not transfer dirt don't want and stds transmitted suction transmitted diseases. and turned them both on the theory is that the one who is sucked down to the point there bag is no longer inflated loses and the result is the Kirby's bag was completely flat. is this a fair test and is it dangerous to any motor or other component's

I knew of!

A guy who sold Filter Queens that did this to a Rainbow...it sucked all the water out into the FQ...of course he had to dry it out and change the filters, but the Rainbow man left thoroughly embarrased...60 inches of water lift against over 100 was pitiful!!

I tried that once with my 3 strongest machines, for a second. It was interesting. Lime green Kenmore canister beat Miele Titan and Electrolux Silverado, just barely but the little cheapie did

I think "suck the other vacuums bag flat" will become a new pejorative for describing your favorite vacuum vs the bad guys vacuum.

Not sure this testing method is viable against bagless vacuums however. I don't think you can suck the plastic flat ( a Dyson's cheap plastic maybe....oh, here it comes )

I think better method would be a long clear tube with a screen at each end and a ball inside. You could see which vac overcomes the other and pulls the ball to it's end of the tube.

Of course, the 'test' has nothing to do with cleaning nor dirt removal.

no, or would it measure air flow either, but when exhaust is coming out of one and not the other, well....
