I have a Kirby Classic Omega that I picked up at a estate sale for 5 dollers late last year, and have just gotten around to start the restoration on it. But in trying to take the Emtor of the unit, I have found the Emtor to be completly stuck on. I am considering spraying DW40 into the stuck area, but would like an opinon or two about what I should do. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, KirbyEzee1914

What I do is lay the Kirby facing the ceiling and spray a little bit of WD40 around the emptor and give it a minute and then try to twist it off.

yeah do that!

After you spray a ton of WD40 between the Sani-Emptor and the exhaust coupling, place the Kirby on its side (with the bag facing you) and put you foot on the handle. Then try turning the emptor toward the vacuum in an upward, turning motion (if that makes sense, the emptor only comes off one way!)

Kirby guy,

He's trying to remove the Sani-Emptor, Not the Fancase!

I think when those things aren't removed on a periodic basis, dirt and other crud will build up, thus making the Em-Tor a real challenge to remove.  Leverage and force are critical.  Aside from what has already been suggested, I have used a rubber mallet with good results.  Use it to tap around the throat of the Em-Tor in order to loosen built up dirt.

What was the results, did you get it off?

All of these guys are completely right...the only trick I was taught by a Kirby Salesmen/Repair taught me to, when putting back on the santiemptor was to squirt a little Kirby Scuttle on the rubber. Just a little to help it slide back on easily. I am not sure if they even make the Kirby Scuttle any more. It worked and smelled like 409. Some times you have to pull with all your might to get that thing off. I have had the same problem especially if I find an old Kirby that has had some water damage on it.
