I'm new and greatly appreciate the benefits of every ones knowledge.
I've had a Royal 801 since about 1972. I have been researching about belts for this vacuum, now to find the dog gone thing. I found one place who lists what I need but whether they do in fact have it is another story. In my search the most remarkable excuse I heard was, 'all they sent me were Kirby belts,' None the less, my husband has a vice on his tool bench and I'm about to stretch the 1044260001 till its the same size as the Rainbow belt . I just got my 801 back from a reputable service because it needed a good check-up and cleaning. I immediately took it apart and that's what he sent me home with, a Rainbow belt. I'm really looking for the recommended #1043260001.(3amp). If I find it , I'll probably buy a dozen.
I too have gone thru the Kirby stage, I liked mine very much, but they're to heavy for me now. My husband bought me one of those plastivacs with the canister and I had to take my shop vac to clean it out, what a nuisance.
In the last two weeks I acquired two more Royals; 880,3amp another 880,4.5amp.
While I was shopping for belts, a lady came in with very new and very expensive machine , saying it doesn't work right, it's too heavy and I could tell she was a good 40 years younger than me. I looked at tech helping me and said , 'now you know why I love my Royals.'
