Look closely at the cord on this Hoover Model 29 currently on eBay. It appears to me that it's a heavy cloth cord like those used on electric irons -- look how it has what appear to be lines running through the cord covering. The strange thing is, it has the original Hoover plug with logo.

Have y'all ever seen a Hoover cord like this? I've had a couple of 29s come and go over the years and they've all had solid maroon cords and they were made of rubber and not cloth.

I noticed that as well. I think it's just the way this particular cord has aged. I believe it to be a regular vinyl or rubber cord. It almost looks like some of the rubber or vinyl has worn away, and you can start to see the material that's wound with the wires. I've seen that a few other times on early blue or burgundy Hoover cords. I've unfortunately had to throw some away, as they were brittle and cracking as well.

Side note - that's the second listing for this particular 29, (it already sold once). Non paying bidder? Sketchy seller? Either way, potential buyers beware.

Charlie, it looks as if it is a regular vacuum cord, but it looks like the owner has wrapped the cord around their arm over the years causing the inner wires to twist. When I had my store this was a common look from people that refused to wind the cords on the cord hooks and just quickly wrapped them around their arms, they would get all twisted.
