Air Way for Christmas

I know some of you have heard this story before, but have to tell you my best Christmas was 1953. When my Mom opened a big
box that said AirWay on the side and it had a model 66 just like that one. Wow! I have one like it now, but not the orginal,
that my Dad had bought from a friend who was selling them. Demonstrated one Oct. eve. Little did I know it would be
by the tree on Christmas morning?
The one we had was a little different in that it had a button
switch like the 55s. All I have seen since have the step switch similar to the 77s

cobo!

I would just have to add. that if the Hoover is from your families past also. What a great 50/60's combo that team
would have made !! Only combo that could be as great, might
be a 50/60's lux and the Hoover conv.!

No the Hoover was not from the family. I put that picture in for Tom Anderson,Jeff and Fred S. My parents had the Air-Way until about 1963-4. They got a Hoover Convertable and my father complained about the dusty smell. Mom traded it on an Air-Way 88 which she is still using today. Years later I bought her one of the first self-propelled Hoover Dail-A-Matics which she also still uses. I aquired the old Air-Way 66 when I left home and as I said I think it held up better than I have over the years. I do remember the Air-Way dealer coming and pulling dirt pad after dirt pad of dirt from her new carpeting that she had been using the Hoover Convertable on.
They traded it in on the Air-Way 88. Of course I was hoping they would keep both! I don't think any new cleaner today would last like that Air-Way 88 or the Hoover Dial-A-Matic. That old Hoover still "BEATS AS IT SWEEPS AS IT CLEANS" after 35 years!
