Static Electricity?

Dog hair likes to cling to the outside of my Hoover WindTunnel. I've never had that problem with my other vacuums (Kirby & Electrolux). Could the problem be due to static electricity or something else? Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks!

Sounds like static cling.. I get the same thing especially right now in the winter with the drier air. It attaches to some plastics and not others. You could try rubbing the vacuum with a dryer sheet to see if that helps or not? Haven't tried it myself.

I was opening a 5' high steel file cabinet at work, just after I took off my nylon/microfiber jacket. A spark flew between the cabinet and my left nipple. I could see, hear, and FEEL it. Don't think that didn't hurt! There was no dog hair stuck to it though. The cabinet I mean.

Polyester? If you wash the case of the vacuum with lemon Joy, that cuts the static. One of my bosses owned a plastic factory and he told me that.

No. Not polyester. It was a steel cabinet.

Oh. It was a cotton/polyester blend.

the lady I work for had a dirt devil for the local laundromat. it was a new swivel glide. each time I used I would get shocked from the inner lining in the hose because it was wire lined. boy did that suck. especially if the driers needed cleaning. boy oh boy did static electricity have a HUGE!!!!! Effect on me.

It's that dry time of year. Just today I got a shock from the car's inside plastic door handle when my rubber soled boot touched the ground. I noticed dust & cat hair clinging to the new Hoover Duros just now so I will wash it down with Lemon Fresh Joy, the same & only dish detergent I have found to clean brushes I use with liquid latex - handy household hint to our good buddy in Moose Jaw, Doug Smith... :-0

I have one of those gravity drip humidifiers on the furnace or the cats would be making my nipples hard all winter long...

OK...here's what happened.

Fred, no it's not, but it was cold out. I took my jacket off and hung it up. I turned around, and put my hand on the plastic handle of the file drawer. So, as of yet I had not yet been "grounded". Remember I said it was cold? Well, the pointy part of my chest was protruding. Should have had pasties on, like I do in my stage act. As the file drawer drew near, the spark jumped from the steel to me with a pop!
Then my chest hair burst into flames! (Not really).
