I'm taking another crack at disassembling and cleaning this thing. I'm gonna wash out a few of the non-metal components. How do you remove the main hose from the body of the machine?

Good luck, try pulling and twisting and shaking and any other method you can think of to try and 'wiggle' it loose, unless it is a twist fit or something.

I'm really not sure what I'm looking at wrt the hose and how it comes off.

I think its the top of the bag chamber looking up the fill tube going to outside the vacuum where the hose connects.

It looks like the little spigot for the bag to attach to.

I'd like to see the other side. In my experience such hoses are always able to be disconnected.

I wouldn't bother to take the hose off unless if you're replacing it with a new one. I've tried doing so before many years ago and there's no way I could successfully take one off without breaking the tabs, even my buddies from my local vacuum shops couldn't get one to come off without breaking the tabs either.

Oh, sounds hard. Try a very small flathead carefully maybe. I have a model building flathead that is really useful for all kinds of things.
