A year or so ago, a new line of sparking flavored waters started appearing in grocery stores out here called "Sparkling Ice." They're sugar-free (sweetened with Sucralose) so they're better for diabetics* and are very refreshing.

At that time, there were just 4-5 flavors but I liked them all and started getting them regularly. Since then, more and more flavors have been added. (See link below.) Here's a list of them, in order of my most-to-least favorite:

• Cherry Limeade
• Strawberry Watermelon
• Crisp Apple
• Orange Mango
• Peach Nectarine
• Pink Grapefruit
• Lemon Lime
• Kiwi Strawberry
• Coconut Pineapple
• Pomegranate Blueberry
• Black Raspberry

And there are these flavors of Sparkling Lemonade:

• Classic Lemonade
• Lemonade with Tea
• Peach Lemonade
• Strawberry Lemonade
• Raspberry Lemonade
• Mango Lemonade

I don't care for the Sparkling Lemonade as much as the regular flavors. There's something kinda odd about fizzy lemonade. And the Mango Lemonade in particular has an awful flavor -- it tastes like baby aspirin.

One thing that's kinda annoying is that all stores don't carry all flavors. I have to traipse around to three different Ralphs Markets and a Cost Plus World Market to get all my favorites.

* Granted, I know that any artificial sweeteners are not really good, but you know ... sometimes a person just needs something sweet. These sodas are better than sugared sodas, many of which contain as much as 54 grams (12 teaspoons) of sugar. Especially the ones that are sweetened with corn-syrup-derived sugar. And especially the ones that are also loaded with caffeine.

Couldn't these drinks NOT be considered "water" but flavored drinks kinda like Kool Aid?I cannot stand the artificial sweetners-they taste terrible to me-have a bad aftertaste and make me feel kinda "funky"I go that a sugared soda or drink once-twice daily isn't going to hurt you.Fizzy lemonade-that would be a SODA drink since it could be carbonated.Don't have those drinks you mention in my area-must be local to your area. The thing I find really funny is there is close to a whole aisle in the store here with nothing but bottled water-what a STUPID product as it goes-you can get BETTER water from your tap for less-no bottles to throw out and no less energy involved getting the water to your house from water company to your spigot.

I don't know about the tap water in your area but the tap water here in L.A. tastes absolutely awful. I have a Brita filtered pitcher in the refrigerator, but I also buy Arrowhead bottled water. It just tastes better, far better, than our tap water. To say nothing of the fact that tap water is treated with fluoride, a practice that is controversial at best.

As for sugared drinks, they're fine for those who can drink them, but they're not good at all for diabetics.

The water here tastes pretty good-in my area there are two water companies.Eastern Pines Water-I use them and Greenville Utilities Commission. They supply electricty, water, and natural gas.I use their power-not connected to gas.I am sort of border diabetic-the artificial flavored drinks messed up my sugar readings WORSE than the sugared ones.I don't beleive the water here is fluridated anymore. The cost and really no benefits made the water companies here discontinue it years ago.

Wow, that's a scary article. I have often wondered about the additives in bottled water. I have also heard (though I have never verified) that some bottlers put DIOXIN in the water. WHY??!!

Here in Southern Arizona, we do NOT drink the tap water. Even filtered, it is a gamble. I buy bottled water through Safeway or Walmart, though I know it is wasteful to use those bottles (note: I only buy the gallon bottles for home use, and once a week I buy a six-pack of smaller bottles to take to work with me). I hate the waste these produce, but at least they are recyclable.

I SO miss the water of both Portland and of San Francisco. You could drink the water right out of the tap. It had a great taste. I wish I still had those water resources.

an ENTIRE ISLE of BOTTLED WATER? Why on EARTH are you shopping in the Hippie side of town?!

I want to chime in about water but don't want to be accused of being a bully since it was pointed out by a non-paying member before & also hijacking someone's thread since the topic is about Sparkling Ice so I don't know what to do??!!

I walk by the water aisle at the store, too. Its really just too expensive. You pay for the "convenience" of the bottle and the "mystery" ingredients.Bottle water and tap water are under two different standards-It would be ILLEGAL for water companies to add things to the water that bottled water companies do.Under the health and safety standards-bottle water is considered a ---BEVERAGE.So the bottled water companies are more free to add things to the water they bottle-and even if it is "local" tap water or "spring" water. And not to mention the water bottlers can overload the local water companies.TAX THE PRODUCT!!!!You can get a distillery unit to use at home for bad water. We use one here at the transmitter site to provide distilled water for the transmitter cooling systems.Take a drink of distilled water--and you taste---NOTHING! Its just water without anything in it.
