Spa time for a Hoover Portable!

I picked this up at the Goodwill the other day for a whopping $5.09. Couldn't pass it up despite it being filthy. Stood at the sink in the workshop for three hours scrubbing it down with Dawn dishwashing soap, hot water, and a sponge. I put in a new type J bag, and gave it a spin. It runs, but the bearings are definitely dry. Also, the cord does NOT fill me with confidence. It's extremely brittle and has cracks all over.

That's an interesting looking vacuum. I'm more intrigued by that microwave in your pics. Is that an Amana Radarange? I had one of those growing up. It was an awesome microwave and would cook anything!

Yep, that's what it is. It's my only one though. They're extremely hard to find.

Looks great. I have been lucky to find 2 of these one yellow, and a orange one. They were both extremely dirty. I guess people store them in the garage or attic, because honestly there not exactly the easiest vacuum to use to be called "portable".

With very little luck,just a walk up the stairs,you would find about 15(or more!)here.(And Floor Washers,Slimlines,Constellations,Dial a Matics and MORE.All needing to GO!!)I agree they are not so portable but are probably the best example of hose/tool storage and are usually found with all parts.

A nice Hoover made NICER by the clean up.Seems unusual for cords of this era to show the wear and cracks yours has but would be easy to change.
