Very cool, Jim - the ephemera and your love for your parents. It's hard to believe that those items are nearly 50 years old. Thanks for sharing.

WOW!!

Tom,

Very nice Filter Queen thanks so much for posting the picture. I don't have any canister vacuums in my collection, but if I ever get the opportunity to get that model, I'll have to jump on it, it is beautiful what model number is that one? Thanks again!

Jim

Hey Jim:
It's a model 31. The first use of the heat shield on top launched with the 1978 50th Anniversary model. This machine could also be ordered in chrome and chocolate brown, but most distributors did not since that color combination cost more and most people didn't know what a Filter Queen was anyway when they saw it. The brown/chrome model was ordered if the distributor was in a heavy Rainbow area, since the Rainbow had just launched their brown/chrome model the same year.

Oh my,

This was a really great thread you posted here. I thoroughly enjoyed reading all that was printed about the companies future plans and the festivities in the 'city of angels' planned. How fun was that? Investing in and supporting your employees is a winning strategy proven time and again.

Your parents look to be a fun couple. They look so much like mine did and the vibe I'm getting has me thinking that if they had ever met they would have hit it off and become good friends. Those five words you said, Oh, how I miss them" had me reaching for a Kleenex as I of course miss my parents too. My eyes needed a good rinsing out anyway so thanks for that too! If I ever see a model 31 in good shape I'll certainly bring it to your attention.
