I got my new vintage Eureka Commercial Vacuum today. It has a metal fan and it sounds like an early 70s commercial vacuum!!! But I am having a lot of trouble putting it together. I think it's missing some parts. I will take pics and show you. Like the part where the bag attaches is missing. Also, this metal thing came off from the plug. I have no idea how to put it back on. So I do need help. Someone please help me. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Like is this part supposed to be for the bag? But then aren't I missing another part like this for the cord? Also the machine came in all beat up, because the guy did not bubble wrap it. I am a little disappointed. It was not properly packed. It does work though. It sounds like a Sanitaire 641. I still need to vacuum with it, but it turns on and has a 70s metal motor. Sounds nothing at all like today's Sanitaire.

Isn't there supposed to be a silver piece of metal on this part of the cord? Also, I think I am missing a screw for the bag.

those metal pieces,

Look as if they go to the cord.more pictures would help!

The tiny metal piece with the curved end looks like it should be screwed onto the handle so that it can hold the bag spring attached to the top of the bag. The other piece may indeed be a cord retainer - you snap a part of the cord into the small part and then snap the wider part onto the handle where you want to retain the cord. This makes sense if the cord is not threaded inside the handle but instead exits the vac on at the back of the motor's hood. Just some guesses without seeing more pics! :-)

I think that piece is for the bag, though I am not sure. I found an area below the handle where you screw that piece with the holes in. I did that, and I put that tiny piece on, and I think this actually holds the bag in. If not, then there is not hole to screw that tiny piece in. Here is a pic.

Well I figured it out. I am supposed to put that black thing into that square hole, where the bag attached. No wonder the bag keeps coming off when I put it down. I thought it was a screw. Seems like nothing was missing after all.

Silly me.
