I stopped in a resale shop today that I didn't know about, and found some neat vacuums. I got a Hoover Convertible U4001. This needed some HEAVY cleaning. It was very scuffed up, but it turned out very nice. A few other collectors and I are confused on this. The model number is the same as Davis' orange and brown one. But this machine is yellow. It has not been painted over anywhere. I am not sure if the bag is original or not either. Either way, the bag looks very nice with the hood. Next is a Hoover Portable. I have one already, but the color is different. This one has all of the attachments, and needed no cleaning at all. Just a wipe down. The only problem is, half of the crevice tool is missing. Other than that it's great. Next, a Hoover Spirit with the Futura style power nozzle. It has an Elite brushroll. I am not sure if this power nozzle is original or not. All of my other Spirits have the Quadraflex power nozzle. And finally, after YEARS of searching, a Hoover Dust Buster. I had a black one that my aunt gave me that was completely dead. And I also had a white one, the same as this one, that my grandparents gave me. Both are long gone. This one does not work, but I am still very happy I have FINALLY found one, and with the box as well. I got all of this for only $30.

I have this upright.Actually the bag IS correct.

I was told by a HOOVER exec that this cleaner followed the full hood deluxe. The used up the vinyl on the plain upright 'til it was gone. So, it should be close to the beginning of the run. I have one with the mustard bag, too. That is , IF this bag has snaps! If not, it was just a reg bag put on to match the color.

This bag does have the snaps! Unfortunately, two of them are gone, but it's all good. Is this anything special? Or is it just any old Convertible?
Thanks for the info,
Chase

Well, it's special as it is different from the

"regular" ones. They used up vinyl, etc. So, it's an earlier one off the line. If you see one with a plain bag, it was later, after they used up this material. That's how several differences in the same model came to be. ...and, what do you mean...ANY old convertible"?? LOLOLOLOL

When it comes to Convertibles "special" is codeword for cheap lol. In fact, the model 31 didn't even have a switch in the handle. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't all the special models devoid of a headlight?
