Some new finds for me

Ok so its been a while since I posted my latest finds, We have been so busy at my shop I just haven't had the time.

So starting off Finally I have a complete and by complete I mean I can now use my first Filter queen. I have 3 machines now and 4 Pn's but never had the hose. When I bough the third machine It came with the hose but it needed lost of work so I built 1 out of the 3

Next up was a Wap sq450.
I love these machines they can suck up just about every thing in sight and are super quiet. They even came with a powerful PN option

Here it is doing duty in my workshop during a very big clean up and renovation

Ok so this may not be that exciting to most of you but I love American stlye tank vacuums and I finally have a modern one. I found it at the local cash con who called me saying his staff had bought 2 machines that were 110volt. Its missing its one wheel but works fantastically Not to noisy either and the way the motor is set up interests me allot. Very different from the waps and Karchers and other "shopvac" style machines I have

The other machine to come from Cash converters was this Hoover Steam vac ultra , It worked beautifully and personally I think it works better and feels better made than my newer V2 ( also 110volt ) It has now replaced the V2 as our carpet cleaner at home and in my household with my two sons it gets used a few times a week

Now for something Newer.
Our new entry level dyson dc33c
Its very similar to the dc37 save some features. Its a straight suction machine and has awesome power. Very Impressed

Now a oldie and odd one, I got this from a friend who owns a vacuum repair shop. I only ever saw one of these before in the sample room at Electrolux SA and it has a orange dust bag cover.

This is in Bad shape missing its Brush bar and sole plate and the plastic is badly sun faded. If any f you have a brush bar and sole plate I would be interested

I got this odd Siemens for the equivalent of $8.00 off gum-tree, Its brush is seized but I figured it was worth it as it was so odd.

It even came in its original box , a huge box at that too, The machine stands on its cleaner head fully assembles in the box I was surprised by its size especially by today's standard shipping sizes

and finally I own one thanks to a friend who owns a Cash Converters a Hoover Pure power. Its in bad shape but will get fixed up nicely, and it runs sweet.

Those cleaners were sold here in the UK at least ten years ago - not as Siemens, but as Vax of all things. They were advertised heavily on television, but the cleaner was not user-friendly (for instance the flex enters the cleaner at the bottom and you will be forever picking it up or tripping over it, should you not clip it up), and was priced to closely to that of the Dyson.

Thus, sales here were poor.

You can imagine then how surprised I was to see this cleaner back on sale a year or two later, this time under the Bosch name. I could never see how Bosch could have built a machine quite like this. Is this their own, or one they had 'badged'?

Vax and Bosch merged on the AVC and what soon became the VX-1 series, (and Bosch BUC11700 etc) Benny. I always wanted one as my neighbour had the bright yellow and purple AVC.


 


However, the cord was auto rewinding, which for the UK was rather rare and there was lots of cord on it - I think 10 metres.


 


The only thing I disliked about this vacuum was the noise, the weight of it and that "elephant trunk" hose at the front as it had a dusting brush already fitted to the bottom of it, but a short ring of castle cut mini bristles that really didn't do very much. I loved the overall look of it though.

Those are some very nice finds! I really like the national and the filter queen. I really wish we got suction only dysons over here. I have a bagged version of that siemens as well under the bosch brand, they are very strange beasts. I may have a brush and sole plate for that national as I have a few similar models that may be toast, I just need to check them out.

Wow!

What an interesting variety of vacuums! I have a decent collection, but your variety is very impressive! Especially that Siemens. I've never heard of it. I guess it's cause they warent sold here in the U.S.

Merged as in Bosch/Siemens donated the motor, Vax designed it. Or it may have been the other way around...

I have a very wide variaty of vacuums in my collection ranging from really Old 1926 Electrolux right up to very modern. I appreciate all vacuums.

This siemens vacuum is a beast at best, It also has one of the longest cartirige filters I have even seen on a domestic vacuum. This one does not have auto rewind but rather a button ontop of the winder. I think it would work fantastically in a large house with lots of carpet.

Scott Let me know about the brush roll and sole plate would love to get that national going.

Gsheen, when we Brits speak of an "automatic" winder, we mean the type which has a button to press in and then the cord is pulled into the machine, as opposed to a cord which has to be wrapped around the cleaner. I suspect you thought we meant "automatic" as in a spring loaded flex which did not stay out of its own accord. We have had cleaners like that - Electrolux to name one- but they were rare.

Automatic cord winders are now a very rare sight on cleaners sold in the UK, and what I was referring to in my original message was the fact that the cord on your cleaner leaves at ground level, meaning that for safety & convenience it needs to be hooked up to the handle.

I can't believe they have stuck the AEG badge on that cheap cylinder, we got those in the UK badged "Russell Hobbs Advanced Cyclonic" is the AEG brand not considered premium in SA?

Yes it is , That is an entry level aeg, its sold as a AEG in many country's and is actually a very good machine for its price. They are made by Kingclean One of the largest manufacturers of vacuum cleaners, Thye have both there own design and do assembly for Morphy Richards, Electrolux/Eureka, AEG, Volta, Russell Hobs( this and one other model ) to name a few. They are definetly one of the better Chinese manufacturers. This model is far better built than anything I have seen with a Russell Hobs badge.

I was referring to Sebofans post about it been auto rewinding which I took it as been Like that of many of the Top of the range Electrolux and AEG cyinders where you just tug once on the cord and it retracts. ( not something I like despite loving the twin clean )

Gsheen, yes thats what I thought you meant. We call all spring loaded winders "automatic", irrespective of the method for unlocking the cord. It is confusing.

I also meant to say they were a rare sight on UPRIGHT cleaners in the UK. Most cylinders do still have them.

That's quite a variety you picked up. Didn't know the pure powers were available over there. I like the lux 290 you have in the background we had a similar one I think it was the 180 it's black and white then it was updated to 1185 slimline electronic. Been trying to find one of those for years. Don't suppose you fancy selling and shipping the power plus with dust cup to the uk do you it's behind the national. That's a cool looking machine as well

The main problem that "upright brands" have often responded when I've emailed has been that the mechanics of an auto cord rewind often break early on when applied to an upright vacuum cleaner. Shame I don't agree - my old green Panasonic upright had a fairly reliable auto cord rewind for many years including a brush roll on/off function - both functions are only now beginning to reappear on certain brands - but at a cost.

The Pure power was not sold in SA this was brought back by some one moving to SA a common occurrence.

The dust cup is not for Sale sorry Its the only one I have and it needs allot of work.

The Electrolux 180 was the predecessor to the 290 The main difference is the rear wheels are large and exposed ( circa elux 350 style )Possibly more like your guys 1185. This model also came in deep red, we also got a 260 model in a lavender Blue

A few new arrivals, I actually got some of these last week and was going to tell you guys all about them but then, You know those youtube video's were the guy climbs to the top of the ladder and the ladder slides down, well that happened to me on a lader I had climbed a few times that day, I ended up kissing the concrete below with my bottom jaw and then fore head, Some how my wrist laded under the ladder, NOT GOOD and my elbow also Kissed the concrete so I was pretty bashed up and have been wearing a sling most of the week to my disgust. I am a very active person and dont like to be held down for any reason. But here they are

First up my Holand Electro Very rare I have only ever seen one of these before and this might be the same one, No pipes but thats never stopped me before, Oh wait yest it has.
