So I have been slowly building up my Electrolux collection.

I got this a week ago
a Electrolux 312, This was never sold in SA Its owners brought it out when they moved from the UK to SA

It needed a full strip down and clean out, The motor is sealed and is like those found in the 348 and 350 series, Our metal tank Electrolux vacuums manufactured here used a older style motor

I dont like the origional floor tool that came with this machine so I used a spare SA one that came with our Electrolux 757 vacuums

It works much better, Not sure if this floor tool was available elsewere in the world

I have had this Electrolux 350E turbo for a while , When we go up to the house in Calvinia ( about 400 Km , 4 hours drive from Cape Town I take allot of unfinished projects with me because up here my work takes a back seat and I get to enjoy my time and spend some of it restoring machines, Over the past two days I have managed to get 4 machines done.

This was a manufactured in SA machine , they were hugely popular.

With these two vacuums Electrolux dominated the SA vacuum market, Hoover had 3 different models of turbopowers and the seriously nice sensitronic and other canister models but could not compete with this deadly duo. During the 80's was the first time that Hoover was not the lead player in vacuums in SA

This is my 350 from the Uk, It had to get a new motor as the old one seized ( a common problem with these machines and not fixable as the motors are sealed )

Ok so these are not all Electrolux , but they were all made by the same company, some of my every growing collection of Electrolux and Columbus SA designed and manufactured Vacuums and floor polishers

The two last on the right are 3 brush polishers the others are all vacuums

Hi Gareth,

Are those Sanyo cylinder vacs on the shelf in Reply #4? My late father was the advertising producer for Sanyo Canada and I've always been interested in seeing these rare machines from the 1970's....:-)

Hi Brian

Sorry for taking so long to reply I have been away on vacation and got back to a insane week last week.

Yes those are Sanyos. I have 4 of the cylinders and one upright. 3 of the xylinderss are tol ones pictured their but one is a newer model entry level without the controls on the hose. U fortunayly I am missing the hose for all but one of the machines . The blue one i got almosgt complete many years ago +- 20 and some how through all of our moving the hose got lost. The red one I got most recenyly and its complete with all its attachments

Here is the red one I took it out and dusted it down to take the pic for you

My Electrolux 504 , Some months back I got a call from a wife of a old Electrolux employee who had passed on, She was looking to unload all his bits and pieces he had collected over the years and Included were brand new motors for the 500 range.

I fitted a new motor and belts and it runs like new

I got this Lovely Za 30 Electrolux up in Calvinia from a friend, Its going to need some work. The Chrome is already at the re chromers getting sorted, Now just to get that body and motor sorted. The hose while in good condition visually is completely stiff and stuck in that shape.

This has to be my favorite commercial Vacuum. The Electrolux z74.

I saw some machines for sale on gumtree and called the owner , in another town about a hour away and organised to buy them. when i looked closely at the pics of the other vacuums I saw just the rear wheel of this beast.

I asked if he still had it and he said sorry it had sold. As he was moving to my town I arranged to collect the other vacuums from him on the following Saturday. Just before I left he messaged me to say I must bring another R 500.00 about $50.00 with , when I got their he said I sounded so disappointed that he had sold the vacuum that He went and bought it back and had it for me

Nice Electrolux vacuums

I understand that you like the 312.
I have the same version as Z307 in red. The nozzle looks similar to the one you took as replacement.
