OK got an Avalir today. I like it and it does what it says, deep cleans your carpet. I can feel the vibrations as it agitates the hell out of my carpet. Now a question.....I used the recommended procedure to figure out the height... Wait until I hear first contact and then lower it on more time. Now I know my downstairs neighbor must be able to feel the vibrations above her head, so how much less of a clean will I get by just leaving it on that first click after contact? Oh, I don't have a base rug plate yet. I either misplaced it or never got one, could that have something to do with more vibration?

Also, I bought the green Hepa bags are the red Micro Allergen filter bags much better and worth getting?

Stop using it!

Do not run that machine without the rug plate. It cannot seal to the carpet, and will not clean. I'm sure it's vibrating the hell out of your carpet, but it's not cleaning if you don't have the bottom plate.

I agree. STOP using the machine till you have a rug plate for it. It won't be cleaning properly and you risk damaging / premature wear to both the brush roll and your flooring.

As for lowering the height. Lower till the tone changes and then give it one more click down. I find if it doesn't get the extra click down once the tone has changed it tends to skip parts of the floor... mostly on backward strokes.

No idea regarding the bags.... have always used the green hepa ones as they have always worked superbly and never leaked any trace of dust.

You can experiment a bit with the height. You can use the height when you hear the motor change pitch or go one notch below or even one notch above.

I have the Allergen plus bags in red packet. They filter at HEPA H13 level which is the same as Miele. The green bags filter to HEPA H11.

I ordered a rug plate. I also ordered a 152502 brushroll. I want something a little less aggressive so I don't kill my carpets.....and to lessen the vibrations too.

Rug Plate

You guys were right about the rug plate. Works better with less vibrations too. I got the 152502 brushroll also. Only used it for a couple of minutes and it seems to work well without beating my rug to crap and pulling up too many fibers. More testing to come.
