To answer your question, the Eureka ESP was never in direct competition with the Hoover Concept. In the early 1980s, Eureka released the Precision to directly compete with the Concept. It was self-propelled, had a cord reel, and used the VG II with a 7amp motor. I own both the Hoover and Eureka, and the Hoover is much easier to use and cleans significantly better.

Wasn't there also a maroon colored Eureka Precision? I've seen the blue-gray one, but the maroon version only in pictures. Was it a more deluxe model and were there any other versions of the Precision? I seem to recall seeing them around 1990.

What about the Turbomaster/Innovation?

How did the innovations compare with the concepts, did they clean as well or was one better? the innovation also used the quadraflex agitator (what we called the activator, over here)

alex the innovation hit our shores in 1987-88 and were a magnificent cleaner with amazing cleaning power and impressive performance and that lighed height adjuster was amazing...concept vs innovation too close to call but definately on the same playing field

hoover only was responding to the complaints of women that the vacuums were too heavy to lug around and to heavy to carry.....saddly hoover is consumer driven and the cleaners slipped through the cracks

when you see whats on the way your minds will be blown away ....hoover will be standing on both feet again since the post apoctolyptic maytag disaster....seven years and counting....president gregory is ready to put hoover back to its rightful place in the world or floorcare....our own john long had the oppertunity to visit with him when he was here visiting me.....he is one awesome and powerful dude....

That is indeed great news! I cannot wait to see the improvments that are coming for Hoover, which has long been my favorite vacuum cleaner brand. ( I own 12, what does that tell you? :-) ) Please keep us posted. Long live Hoover!

with the millions they are reinvesting and the hiring of 200 new employees in glenwillow it will be amazing.....president gregory is hitting the gas pedal and it will be above and beyond amazing

Some exciting news in the paper over the weekend. Hoover will be hiring 200 people over the next 3 years. Once again, Hoover is bringing jobs to our area. According to the paper, they are hiring electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, technicians, and industrial designers. It really makes sense, since Hoover believes in innovation and in giving us the best possible products. Then again, with a name like Hoover how could they go wrong? I just wanted to share the good news with everyone on this page.
