You could see the Arch under construction from my mailbox on a clear day. What many don't know is that when they went to crane in the last 'wedge' it did not fit....even with all the intense calculations and sightings. They wound up jacking the two sides apart to get the last 'wedge' to fit. I proudly drove down to see it in the summer of '69 when I first got my DL. Was stuck in the elevator for over an hr.....common malady with the Arch.

<strong><strong>As pollution got worse, the visual of the Arch from our mailbox disappeared even on a clear day, along with all the stars at night(lived out in Ladue) . Then you go to some place like Montana and look up at night...holy sh*t...lol. </strong></strong>
