So...Daily Drivers? (pre 1995)

Ive been using my 1970 Dial-a-matic model 1176 as a DD. Built like the hulk & the color combo always catches my eye. My Kirby G5 & 2007 Hoover constellation (pearl white) have been my daily drivers for the last 8 and a half years.

I would have said my Electrolux LE, but it recently started making a funny noise ...

Time to use the Olympia One or the 1205.

Can't complain, got the LE for free.  It had been used like a Shop Vac before I got it, and refurbished it.

No pics of the 1205 yet. My son has the Super J.

Mine has recently changed! Was the dc 18 cause its easy and never has broken or the handheld. But I dug out my Legend 2 Heritage and am learning how to work it to just skim the surface or I can't move it and my Silverado, not saying its my best or easiest, but it makes me happy to use it! Darn Miele I trip over the cord or hose all the time. NO thanks

Suckolux

So glad you're using your Kirby!

Have you tried cheating and extending the brushes on the brush roll a bit?  Extending the brushes past the recommended 1/16" will help break the seal on the carpet, thereby rendering the unit easier to move.  You should notice lovely Kirby lines on the carpet as well.

Granted, this will wear your brush roll and belt a bit quicker, but worth it to be able to use such a fine upright IMHO.

I just brought in

My early Automatic F Electrolux, I love the sound of it, and also have been using my 63 Royal Pony.

With the room rugs, if just kiss the surface, on pull back it lifts and holds the rug for about 2 feet! Pretty sure that means its getting all the crap! I used a G7 recently I tuned up for a friend, few inches it dropped it. I THINK?? the different beater, 4, not 2, there was less contact with mine, between brushing it could hold longer? Could feel mine beating, hers not so much. and it was in great shape.Mine does have the upgraded white fan, I think they were a match there?

Tooooo many gorgeous machines to feast upon in this thread! Interesting to see your daily (weekly/monthly...) "drivers". Thought I'd share mine (pictured with a few old friends) - I never thought of it as a classic really, but yep - about 23 years old so...
It's an Electrolux Contour in jade and I've never even thought about replacing it; does the job, tools are on board and ready to go, plus readily available paper bags. What's not to love, as they say..?
Oh, I thought I'd also show my two cylinders and a wee baby that must have fallen out of a Hoover nest... (it's a tape measure!)

One of these Celebrity's tend to get used fairly regularly on my rugs. Usually within every 2 weeks I like to hear the sound of a Celebrity run!!

Sometimes a PowerMax nozzle might be attached, some times a Quadraflex power head might be attached but 90% of the time it's that units genuine power nozzle running on the machine!!

Decade 800...

Since getting this added to my collection in the beginning of January and having it fully repaired just a few weeks ago, it has run on the rugs numerous times!!
