You can wash electrical parts in soap and water but you must rinse distilled water over them afterwards to remove the tap water or it will leave deposits on the electrical parts and corrode them. I also follow that with a blast of deoxit for good measure. This past summer I had to wash down a Nintendo Switch dock that I got on eBay that the seller neglected to say it was full of dead roaches and roach mess. Sterilized it all in boiling hot water including motherboard. It works still, but still has a small connection issue with the console I need to do a little deeper clean on the connector.
