Hello:

I'm in need of a small steam cleaner (hot-water extractor), preferably hand-held, for use on upholstered furniture. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking for something reasonably sturdy, from a reliable company with decent parts support, and preferably not a Hoover product.

Thanks in advance!

Hmmm, good luck. Small usually means less power. I bought one of those Sharper Image hand held all in one units and it was worthless. I bought a Bissell little green machine with a heater and it was OK at best, not enough suction for me. I just bought a TOL Bissell carpet cleaner with all kinds of tools, I might try it on some furniture and see how well it does.

Truth be told I've never found anything that cleans upholstery well, and always end up having it done professionally. I spent way too much money on the furniture to have it ruined by my futile efforts.

Well...

We bought a Hoover Dual V Steam Vac from Walmart and I LOVE IT!!! The tools were ok. We bought a Bissell Little Green before the Hoover and I HATE that damned Bissell. If I would ever have to clean furniture and stuff like that commercially, I would go with the Nobles Anser. The machine looks well made and industrial. Hope that helps!

I have a Bissell SpotBot

That does a great job on spots and has a detachable hose like the Little Green for stairs and furniture. I bought mine at Lowe's for $118.

I have not found anything for cleaning upholstery that is worth while. The only thing I have not tried yet was to use the sprayer on my Kirby to clean the upholstery.

rug doctor

I rented a rug doctor and did all my carpets I had no idea how filthy my carpets and furniture were.
