Staying in camber sands caravan park this week. Went to put the rubbish bag in the big bin, and found this staring back at me. Near empty bag, looks very clean and runs well!

All we have in the caravan is a Tesco value cylinder, so at least I have an ok vacuum!

Good find! That certainly is better than the dreaded Tesco vacuum. What possesses people to purchase those horrid things is beyond me.

We have one of those - I am going to sell it though as it's not very good on tool use which isn't great.

But still better than a Tesco vac!

Yes that Tesco Vacuum is the Value VC-BD1411, or something like that. They are £29.50

If you are going to buy a cheap vac such as 'Value' go for an Argos one. Made by Vax but spares are available for them which saves buying a new machine everytime the hose breaks etc. Such thing happened on my Asda Smart Price Bagged Cylinder - cost £16.99 & great for the first year until the hose broke in 2 places. Ended up chucking it out even though it was perfectly good but it was useless as no other hose fitted it.

The best one for suction I found was Argos Value bagged upright though I see Argos are no longer selling it. Primarily a Vax though not sold as a Vax in the UK, it has decent power, isn't a chore to push and has a 7 metre length cord. I found it easier to use than the Electrolux Powerlite - the hose isn't as difficult to use as well as a better quality hose. Only downsides were the bags could only be bought from Argos (pushing the desire to wonder why the hell Vax doesn't do their own bagged version?!), it didn't have a HEPA filter and it lacked a dust brush - cue Dyson DC01 dust tool - a perfect match due to its 3.2cm/32mm sizing.

There was Bush version with a pet hair turbo brush and the HEPA filter.

Yes that's the one, I just wondered how it performed, as its so small and cheap I used to buy cheap vacs sometimes but haven't for some time now I put the money towards more expensive vacs or vacs that intrest me more.

After the ASDA vac incident, I haven't bought a cheapy one since, only reconditioned ones or ones off a car boot where you can find some real good stuff!

Just announced I need half an hour tomorrow, I will try and do a comparison. I have the Tesco vac, Panasonic and I bought the lux Z61 with us.

Found a box full of genuine bags in the skip earlier. Put one in the pana, took out the post motor filter and binned it as it stank and pushed it around. The carpet in the caravan is fairly deep, I wish I had bought a turbopower junior, and the pana left track marks despite it's soft brushroll.

Will update over breakfast which is the only WiFi around, got crap signal atm

The Panasonics are good performers, but am selling as I have an Electrolux Cyclone Power Plus Stairmaster which I am impressed with.

The z61? I paid £45 new last year, and that was a bargain! Good job at 6 quid! Did it need a new filter or was it ok? I have a habit of cleaning my filter off after every big use and itsgrey but clean

Electrolux Z4680, I always thought they looked cool & saw it & thought, I CAN'T LEAVE WITHOUT IT! It has a very good brushroll, filters just needed vacuuming out but am looking to replace them in the near future. I don't know if it has the right extension tubes, plus it's nice how it's got a decent cyclone system, compared to today's bagless Electroluxes! Also the back saver handle is a great addition to it to.

Sounds like you are having fun, especially finding such a nice vacuum in the trash. I'm guessing you are doing what we call camping, and your caravan might be what we would normally call a camper, or rv (recreational vehicle). I would also guess a caravan park would be like our campgrounds (or rv parks). I would love to see some pictures of your caravan and of the caravan park, if you get a chance.
