Single Speed Eureka ESP 2086A

I bought this single speed ESP 2086A built in 1982 today. It has a 6.5 amp motor with a Vibragroomer II brush and it has great edge cleaning abilities. Usually I would have to use a hose tool for the edges of the carpet but this machine picks everything up. Can someone tell me if the brushes on the Vibragroomer II need replacing. Also I'm looking for an attachnment tool set if anyone has one to sell.

Some of the other models I'd like to buy are the 5048B , 2089A and 5060F with the light up logo.

I bought one of those new, back when I was selling Electrolux part-time. It cleaned rings around the Electrolux, so I took it back to the dealer and told him I was only interested in selling the Olympias/Silverados. I wasn't comfortable selling the Lux upright, when I thought a Eureka could outclean it! Yes, you can still get replaceable brush strips either at a vac shop or on ebay, very inexpensive to replace.

Very nice ESP and as above it will get the dirt out of a carpet!
I already have in the works for next weeks EBay a green ESP bag similar to yours(that you don't need)and a Eureka att set(that you might want to look at) with instructions and the Eureka upright box that had the full color illustration of what is hiding in your carpet and how Eureka can clean them.This was also the theme of some great magazine ads that started"A carpet can look clean and hold 1 1/2 times its weight in dirt."

Attachment set for 2086A

Hi Jimmy,

I am interested in the attachment set. Could you tell me if they make and extra long hose, say 15 to 20 feet for the stairs?

Here is a photo of the bottom. Do those brushes on the VGII need replacing?

The bristles look good even if not perfect.Best to test on your carpet.Have a good belt(it is turned right in pic),put bottom on properly,raise height,tilt handle back,turn on,lower one step at a time until it touches and brushes carpet.You should see carpet vibrate and dirt disappear.
Hoses were only about 6 ft but as converter and end were removable should be easy to get any length of hose to reach up stairs,etc.Try vac stores if nearby.Also many furniture and even hardware stores carried Eureka and may have a back room of old parts.(As with many uprights the hose suction is good but the job they do best is carpet.Also do not use the upright hose for shop vac type debris as it all hits the fan.)

Another photo of my new 2086A

It is pretty easy to be bitten by the Eureka bug. I'm really amazed by the performance of this 2086A and reading from the previous posts there is at least one member who thinks it is the best vacuum of all time. How would I know until I try out some of the others. So far the ones I'd like to try are the 2089, 632, 5048, 5060, 2011, 2109, 2105, 1492 and 2091. I guess the first one that shows up on eBay or a local Craigslist at a reasonable price is the one I'll get.

Since I have had so much fun looking through the old posts of the various models I'm posting another photo of mine. One unanswered question is whether the lesser amperage motors are quieter than the 6.5 and 7 amp motors but are they powerful enough to do as good a job.

The bristles when new..

on the VG's are far shorter thn you think they are going to be. They are much shorter than say, a Hoover Convertible brush roll has.
