Singer vacuum of the Day!

I think this is kinda random that today's vacuum of the day is a Singer. I was just reading old posts on Sunday, and someone had asked about a particular attachment in another members photo. Now here that attachment is. A rug tool for a vintage Singer canister vacuum. This was probably one of the very first ever turbine powered vacuum tools. It looks big enough to have a turbine fan housing and probably a 9 or 10" agitator. At the time it was $19.95, so in todays economy that's probably somewhere around $65.

Preco Power Brush

Hey Rob, that attachment is the Preco Power Brush. If you search thru the forums, you will see quite a bit of discussion on this. I remember getting to use one of these as a kid. We had some friends w/ a straight suction central vac & they had one.

Yes, that turbine nozzle was called a "Preco", and was avalible with alot of cannister and central vacs in those days.
Back in the late 1960s, early 70s, we had several neighbors that had Beam Central Vacuum systems installed in their homes, and most all had this same Preco Power Brush.
I remember using them alot and being facinated by them. As far as how welll they worked, They were OK, but not overly powerful. Better than a strait suction nozzle anyway. They worked the best on short nap, or low pile carpets.
Alot of people had the deep long shag carpet back then, and i know the Preco didnt do much for that, but there again, better than a strait suction nozzle could do.
Of course, back in those days, you had to RAKE the shag with a plastic rake, then vacuum, then rake again so the carpet fibers would stand up.
Looked beautiful until the minute someone walked across it!

The Preco power brush was introduced in 1959 on Singers Golden Glide, also as an optional fit all accessory , Consumer Reports raved about how great it was.

My aunt purchased the Preco turbine nozzle as an optional accessory when she bought her Rainbow model D. It came with its own plastic telescopic wand.

im looking for the turbo head neck swivel elbow that goes from the 1/14" wand slip fit to the power brush head for a westinghouse spinjet. is there a model number for these rotary brush air drive turbo brushes. is there any way can buy one or the broken plastic part i need. does anyone fabricate one somehow reasonable ?
