I have a Singer model P - 21. Is anyone interested in it? I can post video or pics. It is complete other than the tank cap. I also have spare pads.
Thank you
David

Hi David,

Yes, please post decent quality photos (including the ratings tag) and a video of it.

Welcome to the forum.
Use the attach files button at the bottom left of the post to upload your photos/images.

If any other pics wanted let me know. I will post the other pads when I locate them. I also have another singer vacuum head not sure what it goes to.

Here is a survey of Singer US Rug Cleaning Floor Polisher; marketed from 1960 to 1969:

1960
P-21
Deluxe
P-2 Economy

1964
P-3 "Twin-Six" designed by Henry Dreyfuss (Twin Brushes for 1-Polishing 2-Buffing 3-Scrubbing 4-Cleaning 5-Shampooing 6-Waxing)

1966
P-23 Deluxe - 2-Speed with headlight

I know of no other company that used something like Singer's "Wax Packs". As the scan is unclear, the procedure states:
1. Just spoon wax into zippered bag.
2. Snap on over polisher brushes.
3. Wax applied evenly through openings.

It seems to me that the P-2, P-21, and P-23 were rebranded Shetland-Lewyts, which were discontinued in 1972 or so.

There was also a canister attachment, Vac Polisher model B-4, that was introduced in 1962; an empty carton of which is also currently listed at eBay (photo 1)

I wonder if the "vacuum head" is the Vac Polisher attachment I referenced in post 12?

It appears that the P-21 is missing the liquid dispenser cap.

Ad for P1-F & P-23

CA had the model P1-F that appears to the be same as the US P-2.

You're welcome. I would think that the floor nozzle would be compatible with a variety of makes and models; although I am unfamiliar with Singer to know if it used common fittings.

And as I suggested to another poster who is attempting to sell his floor polisher, you may need to wait awhile for an offer; so until then it would be a good idea to "bump" the thread every now and then to keep it in readers' minds. It may be that a disinterested member would find a non-participant that is, or that person would become interested in time. So hang in there.

What woukube a fair asking price?

You could ask $30 or $40 but be open to negotiation. The missing part is definitely a consideration along with the fact that parts and attachments were probably discontinued around a half century ago. So, the purchase would mainly be for show instead of use.

Its rarity is a plus, so I would keep it until someone made me an offer instead of discarding or donating it (the missing cap would likely send it right to the dumpster).

You may want to consider making a video that includes your photos (and my uploads if you want) and showing its actual use with cleaning solution and/or a buffing spray; and putting in your description that it's for sale. Again, feel free to use any of the information I posted in it.

Some considerations for purchasing vintage items: nostalgia (general or personal), time period, brand, design and styling, usage, rarity, monetary value. So, an interested person may not necessarily be into vintage floor care appliances.
