Singer find at goodwill

So I found this singer at goodwill, which is my first run with a singer. Appears to be a 90's model, and from some searching I found it is more or less a rebadged hoover. Got it for $15, only thing visually wrong with it besides normal scratches and such is there is a small hole in the top of the outer bag. It runs really well though, no out of place sounds or bad smells. I actually like how it sounds, more so than some of my others. It's got a bit more "gutsy" sound, and it is louder but it's not because it's damaged, it is just that way but I don't mind it. The photo I have here is just a quick pic I took of it while in line at goodwill, best I could do at the time. I was at lunch at work and didn't have much time and didn't get home till just now lol. And of course my house is poor lighting so taking pictures at night is a fruitless venture. Hope you like!

To my knowledge these were made by Singer!!

Later Singer sold their vacuum line to Bissell. The first series of Bissell uprights that I know of were near identical to a Singer style at the time.

Here is a 10 Amp cloth bagged Bissell 12" upright that I refurbed in 2008. Modle Number: 3512-8. Actual manufacture year of this would have been in the 90's but not sure of exact year.

This was a loud sounding machine with similar tone to that of a Eureka Bravo style upright. Cleaning was ok. I didn't have one to do a side by side comparison at the time but I would bet that a Hoover Elite style unit performs better. The Hoover has stiffer agitator bristles.

Still this unit performed well. I only got $20 for it when I sold it at a yard sale. Very little profit for my work I put in!!

***Crevice tool and dusting brush are not exact for this machine. I got them from a local vacuum store as they fit the hose end.

I have the same model. They were good cleaners but a lot of times much like the Eureka Bravo line they would have dry screaming bearings. No problem if you know how to repack dry ones. Congratz on finding one still sounding good. This would have been very early 90s maybe even the very last of the 80s. I believe this one was the basic low end model. Bissell also had their names on these. And no Hoover had nothing to do with them. At that time everyone was trying to compete with the success of the Elite with the front back system. Singer/Bissell with these, Dirt Devil with their Classic and Featherlite, Eureka with their Brovo, Kenmore/Panasonic with their Power center, ETC

I had read on older posts on this site that people were calling it basically a hoover, who knows if they knew what they were talking about lol. I don't know much about singer so I basically have to go off of what I read
