Simplicity Symmetry Patriotic Promotional Red Model

Found this Simplicity Symmetry at the thrift store and because of the patriotic promotional model (SYM.USAFS) and red color, I had to grab this one. After a thorough spa treatment, all that remains is to get a belt (it was completely gone) and some bags. It looks like this example was manufactured December 2004.

It wasn't made in 2004, back then the 6 series models were still being made at the time and they were later replaced by the symmetries in the late 2000's.

It seems that I would have 2 choices for a date: Either April of 2012 or December of 2004. I would prefer that it would be 2012. The serial number code is 0412013458. Anybody know for sure how to read this?

Usually the first few numbers shows when exactly they were made at and it looks like it was made in 2012. Tom Gasko aka dysonman1 is the best on telling the serial numbers on these because he works with Tacony. Also I can tell the handle and the "Made in the U.S.A" sticker was made right after 2010 I believe when these were improved over the first symmetry models.

April, 2012. It was a promotional model (USA) with a floor selector (FS). And it's a Symmetry model. SYM-USAFS. As love as it was used exclusively with HEPA cloth bags, it should run 20 years or more.

Overall congrats on your find, these are really good machines. I have a black deluxe symmetry that I bought brand new back in February of 2014 from my current vacuum store for about $600. I really liked these when they first came out, I used an early deluxe version at my nieghbor's ranch one time and I thought that was neat looking vacuum, but I wished they had better carpet to use their's on because their carpets were TERRIBLE.

My favorite Symmetry of all time is a green premium (SYMPNT) model because I really like that gorgeous hunter green metallic color which happens to be my favorite color of all time and there were a few extra features that were added on that I really liked, I was going to buy that model but they were discontinued by the time I was going to get it.

I later got this deluxe model while I had a chance because I knew they were discontinued by the time they were replaced by the new S20 models. I've only used this maybe a few times but not as much as I wanted to because I still use our central vacuum alot and the 7300 I later got. It hardly even has scratches on it. Right now it just sits in my storage closet collecting dust, I do have plans to sell this next year because I will need to clear some more space to store my furniture projects.

But overall, this is a really great vacuum. Only thing I don't like about these is the telescoping wand likes to pop out when you are using these, which that's another thing I like about the green premium model better than these because that model doesn't come with one. I'm surprised that Tacony decided to make these again so now these are available to get again. If I were to get that green model, I would've kept it for sure.

In my opinion, I like the Riccar Vibrance versions better than the Symmetry versions because they use the old school "Panasonic" free floating wheels on the body and not on the sides like on the Simplicity, but I believe the Simplicity wheel design still cleans much better than the Riccar wheel design.

These were pictures that I took a while ago before I put this in storage, and there's that green symmetry model that I was talking about but that picture is not mine.

While I haven't actually vacuumed with it yet

since I'm waiting for belts and bags to come in, I did run some tests on it.

111 CFM and 74" of water lift from the hose end (no filters or bag) was very impressive and beats any other upright I have (CFM-wise), with the exception of my newer Sentria II (it tested at 120 CFM from the hose end).

I did notice that the collapsed extension wand seemed to come off quite easily, but that was fixed by cleaning it with Armor All and now a solid push and twist (just like for typical Kirby attachments) keeps everything together very well.
