Silver Knight (Looking for info)

I stopped in to my local vac shop the other day, and managed to get a couple pictures of this. The owner of the store has two identical ones with original everything, even paperwork, with the exception of a replacement hose. I am trying to help him, as well as myself out by finding as much information on these machines as I can. One thing we noted was that the machine does not have the "Silver Knight" logo on the face of the machine, and it doesn't appear to have had one in the past. This thing is in MINT condition, and looks like it just rolled of the line.

If anyone could give me some information on this machine it would be greatly appreciated. (Note: The machine is not date coded, so you cannot tell the date from the serial number)

If I remember correctly, (if being the keyword here, lol), silver knight was a short lived line produced by silver king, as an "economy model", with the silver king being the top of the line model. Electrolux was another company that did this economy model thng, so they could get customers from all income brackets. 99% of the parts should be interchangeable between the 2, as they are basically the same vacuum, except the silver knight has no tool storage, is slightly shorter I think, and is a swivel top instead of a side port. Tania should have more information, she is a silver king expert from what I have read on here.

Silver Knight...

Was built by Thompson and sons as a cheaper alternative to the Silver King, production started in 1955 and they were made well into the 70s, I have the first year model, I replaced the bearings and the armature date is Oct 55, the motor is a 4450 Lamb, it has a very long red braided hose, mine still has the vaporizer outlet on the side, Tania helped me with information and attachments etc when I got it, my machine came from an estate sale,the people had moved from up North to my hometown, thus the machine migrated South...I had never heard of Thompson and sons until then, I got it not too long after I joined the club in 94.Although it was a cheaper machine than the Silver King, in performance it is leagues ahead, it does something I have never seen another machine do, the bag somehow fills from the top down, virtually never clogging....to make it more clear, when you take the lid off, the top of the bag will be full up to the lid, but pull this lint etc back, and the bottom of the bag will be clean...how I have never figured out, but it works!!

"Silver Knight -Beautiful Machine" !

Hey Guys!

The Silver Knight was a great machine, not really on the lower end as it was made of Steel instead of the Aluminum that the Silver-Kings were made of.
They were listed as a "Household Machine" were as the Silver Kings were manufactured as Shop/Commercial cleaners. The New Company in Colorado Springs,CO
only manufactures one Model, the 73B-2 bypass wet/dry machine.
It's too bad they did'nt continue the Silver Knight, it was an All METAL MACHINE!
They are a very rare machine!
