I've been thinking about getting a Silver King if I can find one at a decent price.  But does anyone know if it uses the same hose coupler at the machine end as a Tristar CXL?  I've been watching some of their YouTube videos, and it certainly looks like the same design.

The older power nozzles appear to be the same one that was used on older Metropolitan Vacuums.  The PN I had on mine wasn't very impressive (to me, at least), so I was wondering if an older Tristar hose and PN would work!  Thanks for your replies!

Yes a tri star style hose will fit. You may want to watch out for the electrical connection, mine doesn't have a standard two pin. The newer models may be different. Even though the Douglas power is somewhat mediocre, you'll be very surprised at what it will pick up. The canister unit is very very powerful so it seems to compensate. As long as you get the new style filters from Silver King and change them often you'll be good to go! I'm currently using mine with a Lindhaus PB 14E. I love this beast, it's one of my favorites in my collection.

Thanks for the information!  I've thought through this scenario:  One is to remove the three pin lead wire from the old Silver King PN and install it on a different PN.  The other is to try and find an adapter that will convert a 3 pin cord to a 2 pin cord.  I once had one of those that was made for a Rainbow D3.  I think it was an aftermarket item.

Bill, I do believe Eureka had a 3 pin to 2 pin adapter to use with their central vacuum hoses, to be used on the PN wand cord. Because they switched from 3 pin to 2 pin hose receptacles on their hose handles. I am going up to my dealer today, will double check that to be sure. And I think that Rainbow adapter you mention was genuine, not aftermarket, it would make sense for them to do it later for customers who had hoses repaired or replaced.

The current Silver Kind setup uses a nice Wessel Werk head, and direct connect wand. They have a pigtail on the machine end that plugs into their 3 prong outlet but is 2 pin in the hose, you could buy the pigtail and use on whatever you want, or they sell a whole kit thats not badly priced either. The only adaptor cord the than that that I can think of was made by Rexair, they had a hose cord that was 3 prong on the machine end and 2 on the handle end, I have one that I use to allow use of the SE RainbowMate on my D2s. It was intended to make upgrading from the Eureka made PN to the "all new" Rainbow one easy.
