I can't believe that I've gone through the 16th mini PN! :(

I recently bought a SideKick I & it didn't even last me ONE week!

Turbo nozzles are the same thing to me, they just don't last long either; despite that I take good care (cleaning out brush/turbine bearings, not picking up hard objects)

Why is this?

Should I go for the Wessel Werk HEB160? How good does it work vs. RainbowMate or Lux SideKick?

I know nothing about the other two mini power nozzles you mentioned, but I've been using Sidekicks for years on sofas, car upholstery, and pillows and blankets (where they can and do easily bog down), and have never even had to replace a belt on one, much less had one bite the dust. I can't imagine what happened to yours.

I have several Sidekicks, including the one that came with the parents' Diplomat in 1990...it still works perfectly. One of the best attachments ever, IMHO.

.

What are you doing with em that might kill em so quickly? It sounds like you got a faulty sidekick that's really strange that it would only last a week what went wrong with it?

Its a mystery to me, since I pick up the hard/foreign objects by hand or with the hose only, then I use the SideKick. Maybe the cat hair worked its way into the brush roll and/or motor bearings? Removing the end caps seems VERY difficult on those mini Power Nozzles; as opposed to turbine versions.

btw, I ALWAYS clean out the PN after every use.

I clean out the unit with the vacuum first, then blow it out with air compressor. Finally, I wash the parts (except the motor & electrical components) by hand with dish soap & warm water, & let them air dry.

Wessel Werk HEB160

I guess I'll have to buy one! :P

I hear so many rave reviews about them online; but I've never used one of these Wessel Werk PNs.

UPDATE

I checked the Mini Power Nozzles (Mini Mates) & here's what happened:

1. I removed the belt & brush roll
2. Turned on MM & the motor still works
3. Replaced brush roll & belt
4. Voila! :)

So the brush roll's bearings were the culprit! I wish they were removable like the full-sized PNs.

Glad you got it fixed.... I've always thought that the Kenmore Powermate Jrs were pretty good.... my Electrolux Sidekick is awful.... it's loud and rattles and stalls when touched to the surface and doesn't even clean.... hard to blieve it's Electric and came with a high dollar machine (I use it on a Renniasance though it's from a Guardian.... well I don't use it because it's so awful, but I bought it to use with the Renny).... I think a Hoover turbo tool combined with a Windtunnel is better than most electric nozzles I've seen, if you can fight the hose long enough to use it.

I've never had any problems either, but I have had some I have bought at auctions that have had hair bound around tight.

I think its funny how the new Kenmore resembles the sidekick II
