Here’s my two! The TurboPOWER 7500 I picked up off of Craigslist for $30 and I’ve got a Self Propelled Windtunnel that my coworker gave me. The actuator arm on the green Windtunnel was broken and missing all the tools. The TurboPOWER was complete and in great working condition. I used to pass on these, but they’ve grown on me.

Two here also, one free,a curb find. Strange thing, I really like it! It's not self propelled which makes it lighter and less complicated, however it has enough power to clamp to the carpet like my old Kirby which means on some carpets I can't push it. The other one I understand is actually Vax, I think? I had one of the first ones gave it away, when it went to half off at Target I decided I would like to have one again. Not my favorite but it's handy lightweight and easy to use

I used to have a twin chamber wind tunnel bagless. Bought it on eBay as a factory reconditioned model when I had a two story house with a lot of carpet for a second vacuum at the time. It was ok for cleaning carpet but I didn’t like that the hose would fall out of its port and it always seemed to be suck8mg from the hose somewhat, there was no switch or connection to shut off the hose suction. The hose just was supposed to be inserted in a dead port when not in use but would often fall out and swing about while
Vacuuming. It had the small turbo nozzle which I still have and other attachments but the plastic cover broke for the attachments but it wasn’t really something that was needed anyway, more of a hassle than anything else...that cover. I gave it away to the housekeeper at one point when I was tired of it and I think a plastic part that kept it off the carpet when standing to use tools so it wouldn’t burn the carpet broke too. It still cleaned the carpets well and I would vacuum the screen and paper filter with my Electrolux when I emptied it. I always felt like when the screen would get coated with lint it wasn’t sucking as efficiently and that would happen quickly.

I recently I obtained a barely used Hoover Platinum upright and the nozzle says wind tunnel on it and I did open it up and the wind tunnel was partially clogged.

I really like this model of Hoover windtunnel...it has a very good Hepa bag that closes as you pull it off it’s mount and the exterior bag is very nice. It is also two speed and has a slow 3 second start up, some nice LED lighting, dual level bottom opening to prevent dirt from being flung out from under it, and some really nice styling. As a right handed user, I do find it odd though that the handle release is on the left side of the base. I think this model was designed to compete with the Oreck lightweight bagged upright...you know..the one we all think of when we hear the word Oreck...it is very similar in design.

The bags are quite pricey as a two pack is around $10 on amazon of genuine Hoover ones but also quite large but I could see if you have pets, the bag could get to getting a nasty smell before it’s truly filled to the full mark.

I believe this model has been discontinued unfortunately. Reviews showed some complaints with the handle breaking and some with issues with the electronics for the switching. I love the blue lighted switches though.

I have noticed that all of these windtunnels, including this platinum one...while well designed to pick up dirt, the wind tunnel section itself gets clogged with lint very quickly and there’s no way to know until you open it up, pull out the brush roll and the cover of the wind tunnel section itself and find the wind tunnel has been useless because it is stuffed with dirt! At least when that part is clogged it still functions like a non wind tunnel vacuum.

I’ll post a picture of the Hoover platinum windtunnel

Photos of my Hoover Platinum Windtunnel

Several photos...above I meant to say the handle release is on the right side not left which is awkward.

One picture shows the check bag light which is hard to see because it is not activated. I took another photo showing how the cord comes out of the TOP near the handle unlike many plastic vacs of today.

This model is just this unit, there were no attachments but it was often at times sold as a combination package with a small canister vacuum. The friends I got it from did not mention there was a canister vacuum. Apparently this was his Sister’s who passed away way too soon.

My partner has a real estate company and often asks me “do we have an easy vacuum?” he can take to listings to quickly use to make the carpets look freshly vacuumed before taking pictures, to freshen up before and after open houses, etc. and I thought this lightweight machine would be perfect for his needs so I got it for him last fall from some friends so he doesn’t have to take my Shark rocket as Is rather that not leave our house and be used on someone else’s dirt. It seems to be lightly used and I was able to pull any dirt out of the bag through the dirt entry hole when I got it and it doesn’t smell at all. The inside of the bag compartment is very clean not a speck of dust so these bags and their mounting system seem to be quite good.

Windtunnel bagless canister model

My Sister has a windtunnel bagless canister model...it is silver and black...it came with a pretty good warranty and something happened to the main unit so she sent it in to Hoover (just the canister and hose) and they sent her a whole new complete one in a sealed box so now she has it and two sets of attachments for it including two power nozzles and two mini turbo nozzles and two floor brushes and dusting brushes and crevice tools. It’s actually a very nice machine and it was her favorite until she discovered a Shark rocket but she still has the Hoover because it does work nicely and her home has three levels with living quarters of some sort on all three levels so it is useful to have for one of the levels. The bagless design of it is actually pretty good and doesn’t clog or loose suction too quickly and they are pretty good about cleaning the filters and I told her and her husband that they can vacuum the filters with their Electrolux canister they have as well they use in the garage to avoid a dust cloud when cleaning the filters.

She thought that was a nifty idea being allergic to all sorts of mold and dust.

Hmm

The 100th anniversary blue models are nice. The one above not so much. The 100th anniversary is a great design, great performance and one of the best uprights I've seen.
I have no pics but it's a nice blue color.

Oh

Jo comment should be deleted. Did you see that electric car in the background. Nicola would not like his name to be drug through the mud like that.
Jk I make no judgements. I do believe electric cars are the future. I had to make a comment.

So confused

I don’t understand your comment or is it meant to be a joke? Sorry my garage is a small one car garage and there isn’t much room to take a photo so I thought the white backdrop of the car was less distracting than the crowded shelves all against the walls filled with my tools Ladders etc.

We love the car by the way and it’s our second Tesla! we had a very early Signature model S, the 178th ever built in fact and got it in October 2013....we were pointed and stared at everywhere we went in it and treated like celebrities at restaurant parking lots by the valets etc. but sold it some time ago, my Partner wanted a Porsche Macan GTS which was a nightmare as it was in the shop all the time so we went back to Tesla getting the model 3 this time and are happy again with no issues. It’s his car, he gets the garage to charge the car!! I don’t ever drive it but would love to.

Ok

I'll summarize bluntly. People who own Tesla's are rich silicone valley better than everyone yuppies.
I don't agree with that statement.
I basically said your not a yuppies I'm just joking. I hope that helps.
It's a nice car I wish I had one. No harm intended have a good night.

Les! You are rude and that comment wasn't called for nor has a place here! I just bought a Lincoln Navigator! Does that make me rich? I call it practical!
Your comments aren't welcome here!

Jo! I will apologize for Les's jack-ass mouth! He know there are rules, but he think's he's too special to follow them! He's not!

I didn’t see what Les replied with after my “So confused” reply to him. I’m guessing it wasn’t nice and probably glad I didn’t. There are those of us who work hard for the things we have. My partner is one of them and chooses to reward his endless workaholic hours with a nice vehicle and also in his industry it is not uncommon to have a premium brand. I drive an 8 year old Chevy Equinox...and don’t plan on replacing it any times soon...so if that consoles anyone else who was thinking negatively of me, but really I don’t have to justify anything to anyone quite frankly. I wasn’t meaning to display the car despite what others may think. I just have the Hoover stored in the garage front corner and next to taking the car out of the garage...this was the easiest way to take the damn photo in the tight space.

Well I hope this is over and we can go back to the correct subject here.. The wind tunnels ....and I do like this one quite a bit. Aside from its sharp looks... It’s light and easy to use and does a pretty fine job and filtration is quite impressive for a vacuum of this price range. The bags are that soft fabric...not paper. Interesting how they use this fabric which appears to be some sort of stamped method rather than woven for all sorts of things....it looks like it’s the same as those reusable fabric grocery bags and perhaps someone tried it as a vacuum bag and found it has excellent filtration qualities.

I like the older green Windtunnels like in the first post. Another favorite of mine are the blue models like the 100th Anniversary and the ones made at the very end of production. Also the alien green version. I've seen a few of the blue ones in thrift stores, but missing attachments.

A few weeks ago there was one thrown out in a huge pile of old furniture and junk. I think it was the later blue or silver version (didn't see the front, just the back so didn't know the color, but pretty sure what it was). It sat there for weeks and I kept thinking about swinging by at night and grabbing it, but eventually someone else got it.

I like that Platinum Windtunnel! I've never really seen one much in person, but the controls look really cool!

Post

I was going to post about a closet monkey who hides in the shadows sees something and boom.
My week is now complete.
Jo the original poster. I meant no I'll will I was trying to liven it up. I apologise if I offended you that wasn't my intentions.
The shadow person I see you watching me,...

Hos in the heck does the closet guy swear and call me names yet my post is deleted.
No luxflairvuy it doesn't matter what you drive it has no bearing on the content of your character at all. I live in a $600k house does that make me me rich?
I could keep going I could post more. I guess with all the rich people posting I'll stop not used to being around people who are rich like me.

Lol

I guess luxflairvuys the only poster allowed to click 7 times on something.
I post and help please. I don't sit in the shadows.
I like in a $600k house owe less than $12k that must make me rich. I graduated high school 20 years ago that makes me old.
I have a bachelor's degree that must make me smart. I have a sense of humor and I try to help people. I guess that makes me a hated outcast.

Yes the controls are definitely tiny buttons on a circuit board in the handle. I can tell by the push of them.

Yes. I always liked these and used to see them as factory reconditioned ones at stores like BigLots but could never justify buying one. Got this one with a lot of furniture and kitchen items our friends let us have first pick at for my partner’s parents and niece who recently moved and needed new and better things so it was included in a “one price for everything we selected” deal. When I saw it I was quite excited and knew it would be going home with me. We also got another Hoover for his niece and that one is an upright with a cordwinder. It didn’t seem very old but it was overheating and cutting off but I cleaned the filters and that seems to have relieved that issue. I don’t believe it has the windtunnel feature. It does however have a little red and green suction indicator on the top of the dirt canister showing if the filter should be cleaned or not. Of course it was red when on before I cleaned the filter and after it stayed green so I showed my niece that if the indicator is red when it’s running that she should clean the filters or it will likely overheat let alone not clean very well due to a clogged filter and loss of suction.

I haven’t had much chance to use the platinum one. Since I cleaned out the bag I just set it in the garage for my partner to have available take with him at a moments notice to his listings. I gave it a whirl in the house for a few minutes one day but it was very loud and scared the dog so I didn’t run it very long and I think I had just cleaned the day before so there wasn’t much to be worth running it for.

I did take the bottom plate off and the brush roller out to clean out the windtunnel duct. It was partially clogged with fuzz but this unit has very little use on it overall.

I do like the bag material and it has a plastic reinforcement inside making it sturdy giving it some form.

There are nice LED lights on the front under the stair cleaning handle too. The general quality Of the product seems a step above other Hoover products as of late but the design also is so completely different.

It is a flow through fan however but traditionally these types provide better suction.

Not quite sure what the windtunnel concept was

While I know what the windtunnel is I’m not quite sure quite sure what the function of it is supposed to be perhaps to pick up things the suction failed to get by the brush roll so they do t get redeposited in the carpet? Aid in front edge cleaning perhaps? The concept seems good but I think the execution leaves some to be desired as the suction through it must not be enough to prevent it from clogging.

I see suckolux has one with a clear front nozzle showing the windtunnel so it can be monitored if it clogs.

Perhaps they’ve been discontinued due to the clogging issue rendering the feature non functional.
