I only have a late model VacMaster 4 gallon, 3 hp. Chrome/ black and blue. Nice looking , not too noisy, uses a bag which I like and it was CHEAP! $20 clearance at Target 2 years ago, I had gift card, so got it and all the bags they had too. also on clearance . Enough power, nice long cord and hose.Have never used it for wet.

I have a little Shop Vac 5 gallon that's almost 20 years old. Only used it for cleaning up overflows and ocasionally cleaning the car, so it's like new still. I don't use it much in the house because it is LOUD. The newer ones seem quieter.
I always wanted the Craftsman that had a cord winder and also the variable speed mode in the early 90s.

I have a Tornado Task Force Wet-Dry vacuum,and the new Shop Vac SVX2 vacuum.Also a Shop Vac 16 Gal SS drum that is marked "Dayton" brand sold thru Grainger.Got it from the bargain table at ReTool when they were open here.Miss them!!!They were good for my tool collection!!now the tool collection lingers.Also the Grainger place closed here not too long ago.Bought my Tornado there.
wet dry vacs with more than one motor
I've read about a few wet dry vacs that actually have more than motor, some have two and even three, and you can turn them on and off separately. I wonder if they are hooked up in parallel or series. If parallel, it would increase the air flow, although this would also be restricted by the size of the hose. If in series, it would increase the water lift. Has anyone every tried one of these? It would be interesting to compare the performance of turning on and off the different motor combinations.

I have a few of these 3 motor vacs
They are always in air parallel . The reason for three is when your on site and one motor blows you can still use 2.
Here is my Columbus by soteco It has 2 motors but can be fotted with 3

Here are some of my Waps, The M2 turbo also uses two motors but they both switch on together and cannot run by them selves.

Ridgid RV2600B
Here is my Ridgid RV2600B I bought a few years back - love the 2 stage motor, very powerful. I always use the paper bags in it as well.
I gave my old WD1450 to a friend.

16 gallons 6.5 hp shop vac drain plug blower port looog hose sure makes cleaning big room breeze the hose is about 24 feet connected 3 8 foot 2 /12 hose no suction lost due to big motor and tape all attachments floor tool rug tool dusting tool ect makes cleaning mess or cars a breeze

Il have to check sure has great suction even whit the loong hose im suprise. 16 gallons 6.5 HP whit blower port . Just check it has a 6.5 Peak HP Single Stage By Pass Motor.

Tried Festool? Although it's mainly designed to work on construction tools but it can also be used as a dry pick up as well. I use one of these at my University for my Cabinetry classes as a domino machine and I got to say- WOW I'm impressed by these cause they are so quiet, have amazing airflow and suction, and really awesome filtration (although we have to use ours as bagless because we have to empty it everyday). Made in Germany and I got to say that's the best dry vac I have ever used. Downfall is that you cannot suck up water with these.
I'll take a picture of it tomorrow and see what the model number is on this.

Festool vacuums are supurb--but EXPENSIVE and not as easy to buy as the other brands of shop vacuums.I thought Rigid vacuums were made by the same company as Sears Craftsman shop vacuums--Emerson Tool.They also make Craftsman and Rigid Radial arm saws.Remember Rigid tools from Home Depot.Originally Rigid made plumbers tools-like pipe wrenches and pipe threader machines.So far happy with my Shop Vacs and Tornado Task Force shop vacuums.The Tornado was an expensive vacuum-bought with OT pay.Maybe if I could get more OT-than could get a Festool vac.Would have to order it somehow-no Festool dealers anywhere in this area.Shop type vacuums are EXPENSIVE to ship becuase of size and weight.

Growing up my parents bought a 12 gallon plastic base Shop Vac. I tried using it a few times and wasn't much impressed. The Hoover Dimension 1000 we owned at the time worked tremendously better at cleaning up saw dust and a mess of tar paper scraps, wood chippings, roof chippings after a drastic roof repair growing up that left the attic a nightmare!!
So for now on when I have an issue, my Hoover Celebrity IV Elite with giant bag or Hoover Dimension 1000 are my high performance dirty pick up units. They handle sawdust, plaster dust and all sorts of stuff tremendously better while maintaining power much longer!! My Hoover Dimension 1000 is fitted with a HEPA bag too so my bag compartments and pre motor filter stay near spotless!!!
For wet messes, my Hoover Steam vac or towels or a mop and bucket are my wet pick up utensils. Someday I'll probably get another Rainbow too which could also be a wet pickup vac. I traded the newest model Rainbow that I owned just recently. Just had some memories with it that I didn't like and preferred a Simplicity canister model that I was trading on as part of a multivac trade towards the $2700 Rainbow I owned! The person I traded with got the better end of the deal but I don't miss the Rainbow in the house yet and love my Simplicity so I have no complaints and the new Rainbow owner is ecstatic about it! In the end all that counts is that both parties are very happy!!!

So here's the Festool CT mini I use at college along with 3 Ridgids. The Ridgids are for cleaning up the shop everyday and the Festool is used for building cabinets.
My own opinions and experiences with wet dry vacs: I have used many (except bosch but I really want to try one out). It's really is hard for me to say which is better because all brands I have used do have some pros and cons on them.
My favorite brand of wet dry vacs would have to be Shop Vac because I grew up around with them the most, I always like the way they look, and I really like that they are American made.
Craftsman, I loved their old black models as I would say they are my favorite looking wet dry vacs of all time, they were also really powerful, and they were made in mexico which I''m alright with that. I think Craftsman was made by Ridgid before because they were both made in Mexico at that time and they look pretty much the exact same thing, although I could be wrong but that's my best guess. Ever since they moved to China, I didn't care for them as much anymore because they changed the looks, and the colors. Still powerful but I would perfer using something else better.
Ridgid, it's the wet dry vac I use the most right now. Just like the Craftsman, I like the way the older models looked better. They are indeed really powerful and very well built. I really like how Ridgid has a PRO grade hose as they are the most durable hose than any other wet dry vacs today. The only thing I don't like about these that I perfer the brand Shop Vac better is that I don't like their locking tabs as the part does wear over time that it doesn't want to lock onto the vacuum anymore, we currently have 2 of those worn out and it would pop out whenever you are using it, Most Shop Vacs you just turn the hose in and it wouldn't pop out. Since it's made in Mexico, I don't mind.
Overall I like just about any wet dry vacs really but you know the more you buy, the better there is. I still really like those Festools because they are so fun to use, I think they may be just as good as Bosch I would want to try because I hear those are really good. I know they are expensive but I think they are worth it to me but for picking up water, I got my Shop Vac 18 gallon Pro with me where ever I go.

I own a a 16 gallons Shop-Vac whit a ,paper bag and cartridge filter wet and dry pick up whit blower port and drain plug .Also it has a verrrry long hose , 24 feet to be exact , i made it 24 feet by hooking up , 3 hose of 8 feet so ,8x3 24 voila .Shop vac central vac style hose whit the handle on the hose and suction relief i adore it !
