Shop vacs w/detach. blowers

Which of these 'convertible' shop vacs (those that convert 2 hand-held leaf blowers) is better:

1. Ridgid WD1670 (lifetime warranty) Cannot use bags
2. Craftsman #17066 (1-3 yr warranty) Can use bags

Why do they have the EXACT same design? WHAT A RIPOFF! Ridgid should use their OWN design & not steal from Craftsman!

Actually

Craftsman steals almost all of the designs from other brands. Just look at tools, mowers, yard equipement, Kennmore appliances, or whatever. All copied. Ridgid came up with it first.
Though the designs aren't exactly the same, just judge by price and brand preference. I can see whe the Ridgid can't use bags. The hose connects to the lid and not the cannister.

Craftsman and Kenmore

Sears did not steal anything they contract everything out to a major company. Sears doesn't produce anything on their own. Wards did the same thing. My Wards Power Team II is a Eureka. I have Kenmore Canister made my Panasonic, Kenmore washer and dryer which I belive are Whirlpool. My Kenmore fridge looks the same inside as a Frigidaire. My parents just bought a new Kenmore washer and dryer and the underside of the lint filter says Whirlpool on it. Ridig makes many Craftsman products. Just pick the one that has the price or prefered features that are important to you.

The Rigid and Craftsman vacuums are built by the same manufacturer.Guess the features are dictated by the store selling the vacuum.Sears,Home Depot.
I have a Tornado ext filter vacuum that has the detachable blower-simply remove the bag from the blower unit-and lift the blower motor unit from the tank lid-instant super power blower.The Rigid and Craftsman brands are made by Emerson tools.Emerson Tools makes Craftsman and Rigid tools for Sears and Home Depot.they have been around a long time-but they NEVER make tools under their name-of course they are owned by Emerson electric.They make Radial arm saws,table saws,drill presses,and other power tools besides wet-dry shop vacuums.

Aren't these Ridgid & Craftsman blower/vacs better than Shop Vac's version? I've never used Shop Vac's blower/vac but the Shop Vac I have is NOT the detachable blower one like I see on eBay. I rarely see Craftsman or Rigid blower/vacs like these shown here on eBay, are they problem prone or something? The only problem I have with the Ridgid is the fan fell apart after blowing grass clippings from sidewalk.

don't use blower like this (the way that guy on Sears.com holds the blower in 1 hand & wand connected directly to blower) its better to use hose (more flexibilty)

How did you modify your Ridgid vac to use a bag. I have the Craftsman that looks just like your Ridgid and would like to use a bag when i vacuum up Capture and Resolve carpet cleaning powder. you can email me at [email protected]

Why didn't they make Rigid vacs 2 use bags like they make Craftsman vacs 2 use bags? The current Ridgid vacs look like 10 yr old Craftsman shop vacs; surprised 2 see that BOTH Ridgid & Craftsman still retain the same design over the yrs unlike other vacs that fully change every few yrs.

Rigid Tools-Remember the big RED Rigid pipe wrenches seen in plumbers and pipefitters tool kits-Rigid made primarily plumbers and pipefitters tools.The Rigid line you see at Home Depot is THEIR line of tools like the way Craftsman is for Sears.The tools from Craftsman and Home Depot aren't going to change until Sears or Home Depot specifies a change in their designs.Yes I like the Shop Vacs better.I haven't triued the Shop Vac or Rigid detachable blowers-just the MONSTER blower on my Tornado vacuum I got from Grainger--"Task Force" is on it-not the "Task Force" from Lowes.The tornado blower does not have tubes or hoses on its discharge-doesn't need them-the blast from this thing is VERY powerful.Its a 15A motor with a METAL-not plastic turbo type fan.The fan looks just like the one in a Cat deisel engine turbocharger.The blade design moves a large amount of air and at high velocity.Also when I use the Tornado blower-kinda fun effect-its also a GYROSCOPE!! remember those from a kid-the spinning rotor resists your efforts to turn it on its plane that it is rotating on.Guess the same with other detachable blowers with universal motors and a fan-the fan could serve as the gyroscope flywheel.Suppose the plastic fans are not heavy enough to give a "Gyro" effect.If you have such a blower-try using it like a gyroscope-science lesson for today!
