I've often wondered about how quickly a Shark loses it's airflow. I made the decision to only use my Shark UV795 for one week and see how it's flow changes day by day. I figured i'd end up losing about 30% of it's airflow.
The first step was washing the pre motor filters, and the dust cup then checking the hepa filter. The unit has received little use but I wanted to ensure it was performing to the best of it's ability. Then when everything was dried and ready a nozzle airflow test was taken. I think I may have messed up my previous nozzle airflow reading. Probably held the gauge backwards....this reading was a fair amount higher.
To give some background i live in a 1 bedroom apt I think my living space is in the mid to high 600s for square footage. 1 occupant 1 cat. So it's pretty safe to say in most cases the airflow loss would occur more rapidly.
The dust cup was dumped at the end of each vacuuming session to ensure as little got into the filter as possible.
I was expecting a more Linear result so it was quite surprising.
In a small living space with little traffic 21% of it's airflow was lost in 7 days....To me that's pretty bad. No user is going to wash their filters on a weekly basis....hell you'd be lucky if you could get them to do it monthly I'd honestly hate to think how much flow would be lost in an actual household.
