Shark Rotator Professional Troubles PLEASE HELP!!!

My Shark Rotator Professional vacuum (red and white) keeps acting like there’s a short between where the lift away portion and the bottom floor roller. The lights will dim/flash/turnoff and the brush will stop working this happens almost immediately if I try to go backwards. I have tuned it off and on unplugged the vacuum detached and re-attached the lift away portion no luck does anyone know what might be going on? I have a video of the issue but I’m not sure how to post it. Thank you in advance!

You’re going to have to buy a new cleaner head, and good luck with that, as Shark parts are incredibly scarce. The head cannot be disassembled without completely destroying it. Planned obsolescence at its finest.

A new cleaner head would definitely fix the issue, but I disagree that they cannot be disassembled without destroying the head-you just need the right bit and to know where all the screws are. In my experience there is a micro-switch that activates the head when leaned back and this switch fails. If the switch has failed the part costs under $5 and can be replaced easily if you can get the lid off the nozzle. A little electrical knowledge and a multimeter should be all you need to diagnose it. If you have questions, find your issue, or need a part number for the switch or the head let me know

This may not be the exact problem you are having however it's worth watching this video. At least you can see how to the get the power head apart. It maybe the micro switch or a loose wire as suggested in this video.

The switch or possibly a loose electrical contact. The only way to find out is to get your screwdriver and dive in.

Of course it's repairable, anything is repairable. If someone put that machine together, you can take it apart.

Short

There is a short probably on the power nozzle by the motor or where electrical comes into housing. Take pics make sure you put screws back where they came from.
It's definitely electrical issue.
What is the worst that could happen vacuum continues to not work?

I have the same problem with my Shark Navigator. The brush will cut off if you turn it right or backwards. It only comes on fully upright and fully left.

It is just dirt and grime buildup on the contact terminals in the swivel portion that allows it to maintain power while rotating, you shouldn't have to buy any parts. Just some electrical contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip.

If you damage the powerhead taking it apart, then you did something wrong. There's two screws hidden under the front guide wheels, and all the rest of the screws are accessible clearly. Remember that sometimes wires are taped or clipepd into the housing so be careful when lifting the cover apart as well. You must take the powerhead off before dismantling it too.

My Rocket Professional has been turning on the brushroll at times when it's in the upright position. But to be fair, it fell 5 feet onto a concrete floor not long ago. Honestly surprised that was the only damage.

@richeymg would you expect anything else from shark?
You might be able to get a new nozzle but they're not made to be repaired.

Wiring

If the wiring in the yolk of the vacuum is the issue a new power nozzle would still have the same issue.
I'd watch video on what to look for to fix the correct diagnosis.

Just because they are not made to be repaired doesn't mean it can't be done. Just with some knowledge and being resourceful, anything can be repaired.

Besides, China has even recently started remanufaturing new copycat parts or refurbishing old OEM Shark parts that they get ahold of.
