I wouldn't waste my money on a Shark/Euro-Pro

Not to sound like a troll but you really couldn't pay me to own one of those plastic trash heaps. They are very chincy made and as far as cleaning performance, there are many more machines in the world that can out do it some even cheaper and all more reliable. Perhaps the biggest problem is after the big warranty is over your machine is now considered disposable the company won't sell you parts to fix it outside of belts and filters which brings me to my second problem, rotator, navigator etc. All baggless and therfore useless.

You don't have to listen to me but you would be doing yourself a favor if you would save your money and buy something else like a Royal or Panasonic or even a bagged Bissell would be better than the shark!

Thank you Dys0nboy, please give up...it's hopeless! KIRBY is an insurmountable force which defies all human reason. It is an irresistible phenomena which has no explanation; it simply just exist as some dynamism of nature...magnificent, isn't it?!

Does this model have the tiny little brush roll? If so, does hair wrap around the brush roll rather than being sucked into the disposal bin? If I remember correctly, the Shark didn't do well in Consumer Reports pet hair tests, so I wondered if that was a typical experience for Shark users.

just bought mine tonight

Love the idea of this vac. I wanted something very versatile for my place. It was on sale at kohl's for $350 and I had a 30% off coupon. I got it for $245 and bought a $5 item to get $50 in kohl's cash. That will go toward Christmas gifts haha. Can't wait to play with it tomorrow.

I love the looks of it if only it were bagged and not bagless. For those who own bagless, what is your method of emptying them? A long time ago, I had a bagless back in the late 90s called Fatom Fury and I HATED it! I always took it outside to empty it but that was not always easy because of the weather. I would empty it into a bag, bring that bag back inside and into the garage and into the bin, then I would have to clean the outside of the Fantom from the dust that was all over the outside of the bin from emptying it.

While the Fantom Fury is one of the best cyclonic uprights in history, all bagless machines have trouble with emptying! I have NO idea how Dyson got the British Allergy Foundation's award for keeping Asthma down!

The best way is to empty it into a plastic shopping bag, which defeats the purpose of bagless! I just dump my Fantoms in the trash bin, I don't have allergies (Well, maybe a Dyson allergy or too! other than that I don't know of any allergies i have!

It doesn't defeat the object of being bagless. There is not bag in the cleaner. You can empty the bin after every use. I find it easy. You just have to hold a bag around the bin tightly then you're not exposed to the dust.
In a bagged machine apart from having to buy bags and filters the dust can be rotting in the bag for months.
I still love my Sebo and Miele but the Dyson has become my daily driver it's awesome! :)

Fantom Fury was the best? I thought the filtration was just awful. The entire outside of the vacuum would slowly get coated in a layer of dust as you vacuumed. I always felt like the bin never really felt like it made a tight seal...

As far as emptying it - I did the same thing. I emptied it into a plastic shopping bag, but things would always stick inside in the bin and you would have to tap it hard and put your hands in to get stuck on lint/dust out of the top inside of the bin...I didn't want to just dump the contents straight into the trash because I knew that every time someone threw trash in the bin, a cloud of dust would fly up.

I'm trying to remember but I think it was around Thanksgiving 98 that I got it. I could be off a couple of years...I think I had it for 2 or 3 years and when I finally got a bagged vacuum after that it was like this huge relief. At that point I said I would never have another bagless but it looks like over the years major improvements have been made, so I dunno. I have to admit this vacuum looks really cool especially since it can go to canister and canisters are my fav.
.

In my experience...

I do have allergies, and have always had bagless vacuums. Regardless of which vacuum I have, I always empty the canister into my kitchen trash can, even if it's not full. I sometimes sneeze when doing this.

I don't like having dirt, dust and dog hair sitting in a bag for a few weeks. It could make bags smell.

Marcus, if you use a plastic bag on a bagless cleaner to avoid the dust cloud, then you are still using a bag. thus, you will need to obtain plastic bags instead of paper ones.

The Fury was not THE best, but better than many. The Thunder takes that award.

Emptying the canister Question:

So aside from the dust flying, is emptying this canister easy? Like literally just dump and that's it? Does dirt stick in the areas where dirt enters the vacuum and hard to reach areas inside the bin? It did in the Fantom I had. You had to tap it hard to get dirt that was stuck to come out, and even then you had to put your hands in the bin to get the hard to reach areas......and when the bin was off, a layer of dust/lint would be caked on the holes where the dirt comes into the vacuum itself......I forgot about that. I had to clean that too......It was such a pain.......I almost want one it looks so cool but I keep having flashbacks of owning what I consider to be the WORST vacuum I ever owned. (No offense to anyone who likes Fantom's.

Yes some dust and dirt will get trapped in the top of the bin. It does with all bagless cleaners. That is one of the drawbacks. But if you empty the bin after every use its not too bad.

emptying the bin

is quite easy. everything falls right out. I put my shark through hell today. I did a thorough clean. There was a lot of crap in the bin. I emptied it out and everything went right in the garbage. Nothing stuck in corners or anywhere on the bin. I then washed the bin out to make sure that it would be nice and clean. This is one of the easiest bins to clean from any bagless I have had.

Super-sweeper, Dyson recommends that, for allergy sufferers, the bin should be encased in a bag and then emptied. But if you're emptying a bagless bin into a bag, then you might as well have a bagged vacuum.

Plastic bags are very easy to obtain, whereas with a bagged vacuum, you have to find the correct brand and type of bag your vacuum takes. This can get expensive.

Marcusprit, yes, that is true for all bagless vacuums. Many vacuum manufacturers make it easy to dismantle the dust bin for cleaning the shroud, cones etc. I empty the bin after every use, even when it's not full.
