I've read some reviews stating that the hose is stiff, which can cause the vacuum to tip over if you extend it too far. I guess that's the reason why a canister caddy is included!

the host is stiff! I did try the caddy and that seemed better for canister cleaning. Additionally, since I hate the shark attachments but I found there is a box of small attachments which has an adapter allowing me to use other vacuum tools that I have (thank God). Without that adapter, no other tools I had would fit.

It's interesting that the suction/airflow seems really good, but when I attach the rainbow floor brush (for hard floors) onto the shark and did the kitchen floor, feeling the airflow/suction from the bottom of the floor brush didn't feel as strong as it is when it's on my Rainbow. I dunno.

The dust cup bin is totally washable and air dries pretty fast.

Frankly, I can't see this vacuum lasting 5 years for someone who takes care of their things, much less typical people who probably abuse or are more rough on vacuums.

I guess I'm just spoiled using Electrolux Epic 6500 and Rainbow over the years and wow the difference in quality is massive.

That said, it's a simple to use machine I just wished the hose wasn't stiff and stretched longer and that the tools were better

I give the Shark Rocket Ultralite two thumbs up.

I got the Blue Rocket at Woodstock Walmart on Saturday. As advertised, $149.00. (versus $549 for the Dyson). As lovely as the Dyson is battery runtime is abysmally low.
I like it a lot. With my somewhat limited strength these days it's the perfect daily run-a-bout downstairs & upstairs. Does a fine job collecting cat hair. Felix is a humongous longhair black Himalayan, shedding knitting-quality down daily. Not a problem on the leather furniture but all over the carpets & duvet where he lounges & preens. I have no other Power Nozzle that gets so much cat fuzz in one pass. Naturally, the brushroll gathers combed mats of fur in its bristles, which I expected, but they are easy to peel off, in return for the light weight and handvac configuration which is ideal for stair treads and the Duvet.
As expected the motor filter blackens with carbon dust but then, this is a brand new motor, so I removed the filter medium for it's first month of use.
It does collect a fair amount of fine fine dust on the foam filter but that's easy to shake out like a blackboard brush. Wash it every month. As for replacements, I'll cut my own from sheet foam.
Not a whole-house vacuum but it may be just the right & economical multi-surface thing for seniors in small apartments & trailers.
