I decided to buy this vacuum on whim because I really liked the looks of it. I know that Euro-pro makes incredibly low qualihy products, and I do not trust the brand, but this vacuum seemed pretty cool, so I thought I would go into it with an open mind. I tried that with the Shark Pocket Mop and it actually lived up to my negative expectations of the brands lack of quality and I returned the silly thing and now use a Hoover Floormate and Haan for bare floors.... I've not seen any reviews of this here yet, so I wonder if any other members have tried it out. Luckily, if it doesn't meet my expectations, the place I bought it from has a liberal return policy. I imagine they'd get fewer returns if they allowed one to try vacuums out in the store, but I digress...
So far, I quite like it. Three hours to charge and a foot controled power switch really make me happy. I think it looks good, from the shape of the nozzle to the white color with plastic-chrome accent, to the blue LED indicator light and triple LED headlights.... The blue light acutally surrounds the power pedal and is divided in two.... one half indicates carpet cleaning, the other bare floor cleaning.... press the button once for carpet, twice for bare floors, and again for off. Half the light will illuminate while the machine is charging, and the whole thing will illuminate when the machine has reached a full charge. Apparently, it has a "smart charger" that will not over-charge the battery. The facts that it stands up on its own and has a swivel neck are really nice. Great also, is the fact that it has a compact charging base/stand, similar to the Ergorapido (which I have as well, but it's not very powerful), but this one also stands on is own and doesn't require the charger to hold it upright.
The bristles aren't extremely stiff, but then again, this isnt' a "real" vacuum, it's just a supplemental quick picker upper. It also doesn't have any attachments, but I knew that going into it... one person gave it a bad review because it doesn't have any attachments... that's like giving a car a bad review because it doesn't mow the grass too... it isn't supposed to!
It does have an extra wide gap in the center of the front of the nozzle to limit snow plowing. The handle seems realitvely comfortable and sturdy (one of the many problems with Euro-pro/Shark products in the past has been flimsly handles that break if you look at them cross eyed). It feels heavier than you'd expect, but that's a good thing... it pushes easily. I haven't tried it on bare floors yet, because I just got it, but it is worth noting that the brushroll does not shut off completely for bare floors, the machine just lowers the speed considerably on that setting. The wheels are rubber coated... one thing that impressed me is that the batteries are really easy to access, no tools required... most cordless machines insruct you to discard the machine when the batteries wear out, but this one makes replacing them easy.... hopefully that doesn't mean that they will require frequent replacing.
I was quite shocked at the amount of dust and cat hair it got up during the initial 5 minute jaunt around the apartment.... I can never wait for new toys to charge all the way before playing with them. I'd just vacuumed with the Hoover Platinum lightweight bagless, Kenmore Direct Drive, Kirby Sentria, and Electrolux Renniassance LAST NIGHT before bed, so that amount of dirt is surprising. Surprising too, is the fact that the machine preformed quite well on the shag rug! Most of my uprights, including the cordless Ergorapido struggle with the shag, but this thing did pretty darn well... the brush bogged a bit, but just a bit, and it actually fluffed the pile rather than smashing it. Not as well as the Eureka F and G style machiens, or any Kirby, but still pretty well consdering. I fully expected the brush to stop and the machine to be impossible to move and for me to break the handle trying... none of those things happened!
I guess we'll see, but here are some pictures for now... I'm tentatively holding onto the reciept and box "just in case"!
