Sewing,Sewing And More Sewing!

Well,my mum and me have always loved sewing but we've not done it for ages and recently my mum has decided to pick it back up and start making dolls clothes,and she inspired me to do some more sewing.

I didn't really know what to start off with first,I wanted something simple as it's been a while since I've done an actual "project" So,I found some strips of old fabric and decided to make a few pincushions!

I'll post other things I make on here and I would love to see what other things people are making or have made

I don't have many pictures but I'm sure more will come soon.

I want to keep this a longish thread by posting most of the things I make. I'll try and add a few pictures of our machines too. I would also love to see the machines that you use (I have quite a soft spot for sewing machines and ovelockers)

Mum took this picture of me lining up my squares ready for sewing.

First picture is of me pinning my patchwork onto some Calico to cut out. Second picture is of me sewing the patchwork onto the Calico.

First picture is when it's all sewn together and the second picture is when I went to press it. I wanted this one to be a bit neater than my first one.

After I done all that I put in my wadding and sewn that up.

Last picture (For now!) is my first pincushion when it's all done. I forgot to get a picture of my second one but ah well.

The sewing I have done is making simple curtains.No clothes-Don't think I am ready for that.There is something about machine sewing-kinda neat to do it.Tried the long arm quilter at the sew&vac place-was addictive!!!

Nice I don't think I could make full size clothes either.

Going to attempt making a dolls skirt later though.

Decided to make a dolls skirt yesterday but messed up the waist band due to poor concentration thanks to my brother having the tv so loud. Made another one today and it has turned out pretty good. Here are the pictures ~

First picture is when I have done the hems. Just pressing it so it's neater and easier to sew.

Second picture is after pressing.

Third picture is after me pinning the shorter sides together ready to be wizzed through the sewing machine and them ~ Tada! All done [this post was last edited: 8/26/2015-16:21]

Our Machines

So here are our machines.

Our Brother X-3 machine. We got that about this time in 2011 for a reduced bargain price of £60! Can't remember how much it was before reduction but it was the last one! Too good to pass.

Next ~

Our Singer Overlocker machine. Such a great machine (Well,both of them are!) a pain in the arse to thread though. This machine is older than me,my mum estimated it to be about 26 years old! And still going strong. Its blades are getting a tad dull though.

My mum did have a Singer sewing machine but my "Father" broke a piece thus rendering unusable. I might get a picture of that machine some time. I would love to use it as it's such a beasty thing.

Great work! I bought a 1960s Montgomery Ward sewing machine awhile back and some fabric to try it out. I never figured out how to thread the thing, and that pretty much ended my sewing career
