Selling my Penncrest A117 and shipping

I am planning to move and have decided that I cannot start collecting more and was planning on putting a few vacs on ebay and craigslist but I found that shipping this vac would cost around $75 to $100 by fedex. Here's what Im wondering, I looked at ebay sellers with vintage vacs for sale similar in size and weight and have seen some with free shipping and buy it now prices for less than I have been quoted. Am I missing something? Ive tried USPS, UPS, Fedex, and can't seem to get a resonable rate. We have a liquidation company and sell on ebay for decades so I know how it works and how to properly pack and ship items, but I want to know how others can get shipping for less. Also any ideas on what I should price it at? It works well, is original and not perfect or restored just cleaned it tested it. Here's some pics of the vac for condition evaluation. Any ideas?

there is no way shipping a vacuum anywhere in the US should cost anything like that much. Unless you aren't breaking it down to a reasonably small package. It is not ever economical to ship an upright in it's fully assembled state, you end up paying based on dimension rather than weight. I've shipped much heavier vacuums for less than $40.

I didnt think of that, I was estimating the shipping based on the assembled size. I will have to figure out what should be done to minimize the size of the package. Thanks for the heads up on that, I don't know why I didn't even think about that. I guess I was thinking that not everyone would have the ability or desire to buy something assembly required.

I'm drooling on that one. Just take out the two bolts in the handle to save a ton on shipping. Make sure they don't get lost and you should be all set.

put any nuts and bolts in a ziplock bag and tape it some where conspicuous... Most folks buying a vacuum expect to have some assembly to do in exchange for cheaper shipping.

i shipped a 706 convertible via UPS for $23 from texas to florida. break it down. covertibles can fit in very small boxes...

i would offer selling it here first before you throw to the wolves on ebay. you already have intersted buyers and wont loose 10% to ebay's listing fee.

ozhoover; Yes I plan on putting it on ebay but it's going to be a week or so before I can get to it. I'm thinking about offering a discount to individuals from this site if they use a code that I will post on this site. I'm pretty busy the last few weeks and I have to kind of catch up before I can post it. I have a few others I am going to post as well. I just checked my emails and found that I have several emails in regards to the Penncrest and I haven't even posted it yet, however I would like to see it in a collection where it can be preserved.
