Each to their own with second hand buys but...

Ive bought quite a few second hand vacs from EBay and only a few sellers have stood by their promises, in terms of what is wrong with the vac, or in some cases claiming that all is well until you open it up!

I had a few probs like that with Hoover Juniors, but if, like me you polish, clean, do up and make new as best you can, it can start to get annoying after a few years!

Unless a model has been cleaned out and is well maintained and in excellent condition I wouldn't buy from EBAY again. I have a selective list of sellers that I've bought from time and time again who are trustworthy and the vacuums they've sold go by the just as trusting listing (Roger being one of them).

The last SEBO I had was the X4 I sold a few months ago. It came to me in "very good condition," but the seller didn't really know what he was selling. It actually needed a new hood since one of the screw bits had been removed from the hood and wasn't sitting right on top and then also required a new hose since it one it came with had a cracked collar. For the £170 price I paid, I expected more.

If I was going to buy a SEBO again, it would be for keeps and it would be brand new. I would probably buy the white X4 with yellow inserts which is cheaper at Amazon UK for £199.

I don't consider the X series to be that expensive though - not with what you are getting - but the second hand ones can be dodgy at best dependent on use, but that's like with all other vacs too.

Yes, Narayan, you are indeed correct, Ebay can be dodgy, and you need to be careful. The more pictures a seller puts on of an item the better, so you can see all of its flaws. I like to collect in person rather than have the vac posted to me, so that if its not as described or a bag of ***** I can refuse to pay for it.

If there is only one picture and a poor description of the vac, I don't bid on it, as I cant be sure it will be any good. If the seller cant make the effort, then I cant be bothered bidding.

Yes i will get to john lewis at some point but hey if i can get one today at the market cheap i have nothing to lose if there will be one there it would probably be an old on like a x1

no sebos

BUT vax 121 with box but no hose he wanted 20 but i got him down to 12 then my mum and dad would not let me have it as i have too many at the mo i m trying to thin down to fund a sebo or buy more but hopfuly i will try and go there next week and have another try at getting the vax

Yes I know the feeling - I have over 50 vacs now, and its hard to be able to say no, I cant buy another one. I have to limit what I buy now to better quality vacs like Miele's or Sebo's rather than the cheaper Chinese made vacs like Vaxes and Hoovers, which I have been a bit disappointed with lately.

Your parents have to say no too, as you would end up taking over the house with vacuum cleaners. We all have to learn that there are limits to how many vacs we can accumulate in our houses.
