Sebo X series motors

Hi guys, new to this forum but I see there are quite a few Sebo users about. I love taking things apart and fixing them, vacuums always interested me as a child too.

Has anyone worked out how to get the motors apart? I guess the brass belt drive cogg needs to come off the motor spindle but I can't work it out. I can loosen the bolt for the fan and that's about it!

I'm working with an old X1. Had new brushes (I've subsequently nicked them to fix Henry) but always a slight electrical smell to it, worked okay for about 3 months now it gets slow... I'm thinking perhaps a bearing?

Yes I could buy a new motor, but where's the fun in that!

Those geared belt pulleys are screwed on. What you want to do is use a pair of vice grips and a socket wrench. Apply the socket wrench to the fan side nut and vice grip to pulley. Make sure YOU DO NOT grip on the sprocket itself! But in between the sprocket and turn. These use both domel and ametek motors
