SEBO UPDATE - New Fleece X bags Arrived

Had a thought on the comment Ryan mentioned at the start of this thread about SEBO Germany working on some Eco vacuum cleaners in light of the new EU legislation. I just wondered what people's own thoughts and ideas are on what SEBO may do or bring out?

Well, the existing range in Germany lists the Eco models at 1600 watts, but SEBO already have a 1200 watt model in the form of the "manual cord version" Professional D series. Thus, it's a no-brainer - SEBO could easily just release 1200 watt D series models on the market in the same way Miele have done with their Ecoline series.

The uprights already have a low power output - 1300 watts for the X4, 1150 watts for the X1.1, 1300 watts for the Felix.

The 1500 watt K1 Cappuccino/Eco hasn't been a great success in the UK. Sales were so low that SEBO decided to pull it, though some independent sellers claim to have the K1 Eco in stock.

When you consider that most of SEBO's commercial line up range from 1000 to 1300 watts, the company are already one step ahead compared to other brands where low output is concerned.

Thanks Ryan for your comments much appreciated. Makes sense for SEBO to do that and of course their vacuums are lower powered than most on the market. Again SEBO prove you don't need excessive power for effective cleaning and performance.

Suppose the fun starts when they reduce the wattage further in 2017! Be interesting to see where SEBO go with that!

Thank you. Hopefully more will share their thoughts on this subject...

I have already asked SEBO if they have looked into similar DDM motors but I haven't heard anything. It would make sense to consider it. I don't think it would be a problem for them to do so. But it really comes down to how serious this new EU law is. If it only affects a couple of countries etc, then of course SEBO will have to follow suit.

My only fear is that SEBO could well just stop making a domestic line and concentrate solely on their commercial family.

Though it hasn't been specified, the last report i put on here indicated that commercial vacuums could be "excluded" from the EU laws - and for brands like Numatic and SEBO - it could mean a quick escape.

Hope so......

That could be an answer DDM motors, no reason why they couldn't use them! I hope this new law doesn't cause SEBO to stop making domestic vacuums it would be a shame but I understand why if they had to do it!! I'm sure SEBO will react with something for the domestic market in the future to fit the second phase of the law when they reduce the max wattage further (900 watts I think!).

There was one report I found and it did mention commercial but not as aggressive as the domestic vacuums. Will try and find it again but things may have changed again since then.
