maybe thats why Im in shock, unless your bi

I most certainly am not bisexual. Neither is Alex.

I don't understand the shock, to be honest, Tayyab. It doesn't make me any different to anyone else. I have friends from all walks of life - male, female, gay, lesbian, straight, bisexual, asian, black, short, tall, blonde's, red heads, fat, thin...it's really not that much of a big deal. Gay men and women are no different to anyone else - we still have jobs, houses, families and relationships that face the same problems as any straight couple would. We can now legally get married and have children (not biologically, of course - thank God!). Anybody you walk past in the street could be gay. It doesn't really matter anymore and it's not a reflection on any of us as people at all.

hi/loswitch,,,

I have to say, I really admire your honesty in this thread - nice one!!

I wouldn't worry about your appearance. People will call you gay because it's just an easy thing to call you and doesn't take much thought - not a very original insult, is it? Shows the intelligence of the people doing the name calling. And it's hardly an insult anyway.

Appearance means nothing. I know very manly men who are gay and very girly guys who are straight. My ex boyfriend, for example, was a 6ft6 rugby player - you'd never know he was gay. It all boils down to one thing - are you attracted to people of the same sex or the opposite sex? Or both? You're young and you've got plenty of time to figure this stuff out.

I would also like to point out that being gay is NOT a choice or a decision that one makes. I firmly believe, infact I KNOW, I was born gay and there is not scientific proof to back this up. It's all linked to testosterone levels in the womb during development. So whatever happens, it's not like you have a choice in the matter anyway - you're either gay, straight or bisexual and it's a fact.

My advice is to not worry about it or fight anything. Just go with what feels natural, embrace who you are (whoever you are), be honest with yourself and others around you. If people are going to judge you because of your sexuality, then they're incredibly narrow minded and probably not worth your time and attention. This is 2013, not 1913.

Out and proud,
Chris

Am I really young? I'm 15 in 17 days :P (November 13th 1998)
OK, Your right, but like I said I never knew you guys were Gay, especially people I known for ages like Steve and Alex.

Thanks but what do you mean by 'honesty' ?

I'm in Year 10 now, & people still think that being called gay still affects me, not if I've been called it since Year 7, it dosen't bother me anymore. It just makes the boys feel more empowering but to be honest, I'm happy being who I am, even if I am a little fat, I have better dress sense aswell than most of the boys in my school.

But what was really funny was that the Teacher asked people to put their hands up if they were alright with gays in the community & EVERYONE put their hand, so I really don't see what the problem is. It's just school I suppose.

It's just school I suppose

EXACTLY!! School life is totally different to "real life". Once you leave school, your whole view of life will change. I'm pleased that you don't let what other people think or call you affect you in anyway.

My point was, as long as you're being true to who you are, whether your gay, straight or somewhere inbetween, then that's all that counts.

Tayyab, yes you're still young and you've got a lot to learn. I'm 23 and I'm still learning things about life and things about myself everyday. You never really stop learning things.

Also, just to put in perspective, LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community is made up of 1 in every 7 people. So there's quite a lot of us.

Thanks Chris :)

I watched Piers Morgans Life Stories - Julian Clary the other week. For most of it I couldn't stop laughing because he was so funny but I liked what Piers said to him; he commented on how well Julian looked like a normal middle aged man & I thought well, you know, he was gay I think yet he still looks like any other man. Theirs probably loads of LGBT people most passin the street everyday.

Looks like I was late to the post.

Good posts with regard to SEBO. As you know.. well you may not know I've known them for about 15 years.

The crucial aspect to the X1 Automatic is that it has a far lower power than the X1.1 and X4. You'll get better suction right to the end with the X1.1 and X4. Also, all models including the X1 Auto original can take the delicate floor roller which is really for wool carpets and delicate carpets.

However! I have noticed that there isn't as an easier to push movement with the green brush roller type fitted. It is slightly heavier than the smooth gliding aspect of the standard blue one fitted.

Also bear in mind that the brush roll never switches off. It rises automatically off the floor when the handle is locked up into the upright position - but unlike the Felix, it does not switch off EVER, until you hit the on/off button on the handle.

However, despite all that the X series is the only upright I know that will pick up stones, glass and heavier dust than most other conventional uprights. My advice is to go for an X4 as they appear to be slightly cheaper than the X1.1 Most buy the X1.1 from Euronics stores or online purchases only and you're only getting a different colour compared to the blue and yellow X4.

as they appear to be slightly cheaper than the X1.1

That all depends where you shop.

The cheapest price I've found for a new X4Extra is £217.97. The cheapest price I've found for an X1.1 is £194.95 - see below links:

X1.1:
http://www.e4electricals.com/product.aspx?id=51

X4 Extra:
http://www.tvandvideodirect.co.uk/s...-system.html?gclid=CNeOz6_puboCFWTHtAodmk8Axw

The differences between the 2 in terms of performance are virtually none existent. I have noticed no difference in suction or carpet pick up, despite the X4 being 1300w vs. the 1150w of the X1.1. However, the X4 Extra includes the extension hose and dusting brush as standard which are not included with the x1.1. That alone makes the X4 worth the extra £20 or so.

Ah but Im not talking brand new - Im talking generally and that includes second hand or new.

The X4 is more popular because it appeared in Comet, Currys, Argos, John Lewis etc. Thus going the EBAY route pulls up a few surprises - owners who are selling their X1.1's appear to be higher priced than the X4. You could argue that it depends on the usage and the condition, but I think that applies with everything these days.

The beauty of the SEBO X1.1 and X4 is that yes, there are very few differences.

However, the dusting brush is worth it, if you get the LARGE one. John Lewis who sell X4's sometimes include the Smaller K series based brush which is a waste of money in my opinion - the larger one made for the X series is easier and the bristles don't suck up into the dust channel and get clogged.

Generally, yes whilst the "Extra" may mean an extra extension hose, "Extra" was confusingly marketed poorly previously by a lot of department stores who didn't supply the 3 metre extension hose free of charge.

That is why you get a lot of ex-demo, ex-display SEBO X4 series popping up on EBAY. EBAY seller XS-ltd have good deals generally, sometimes even the newer black and silver PET model comes up because it may lack a tool such as the Extension hose or turbo brush tool.

Ebay uk SEBO X4/New: £210 plus £5-95 delivery: Item 331045799229.

Amazon UK also have £199 for the X1.1 and £219-99 for the X4, both with free delivery.

The X1.1 is a good model - I prefer it Chris (the white colour hides the scratches, red colour, not so but you get the rarity appeal), but due to the fact that it has always been an online seller despite Euronics stocking it and in recent years more private shops are stocking the X1.1 in, the X4 can appear to be cheaper due to its wider availability both online and off.

Also in my experience, buyers will go for the X4 in long term when sold off, they always go with the higher power, even if collectors or owners say otherwise!

because it appeared in Comet, Currys, Argos, John Lewis etc

Actually, the X4 never appeared in Argos. Argos sold the white x1.1 for a while but it was pulled as they were under-selling John Lewis, which are Sebo's biggest sellers in the UK.

I think the X4 tends to be more popular because, for not a great deal more, it comes with the extra tools. When John Lewis were selling the standard X4, I've also never seen the X1.1 in-store - it seems to only be available by request or through the website.

I'm quite curious to know how many Sebo units Currys actually sell. Being that most of their staff are pretty untrained in the area, I don't imagine they sell well without a member of staff who know's what they're talking about. I've also only ever seen the X4, Felix and K1 Pet models in store, not the standard x1.1 or x4.

Actually Argos did sell the X4 and they sold it for a time until John Lewis got peeved that most of its consumers were doing the "price rival/never undersold" policy. I remember it well as it appeared in one season and Argos stopped selling it.

JL threatened to close its account with SEBO unless SEBO gave them an exclusive model, hence the X4 Excel. JL were also at one point exclusively selling the X1.1 online "outwith smaller franchise Euronics," before Co Op copied and offered it, as well as the now defunct Miller Bros electrical outlets. Tesco also sold the X series for a while, too, as well as the K, Felix and D series.

JL appear to continue to sell the white X1.1 model as there aren't that many Euronics stores everywhere in the UK.

Depends on where you are with regards to the X4 - I've been to a few Curry stores down south, near London. Some have had the X4 in store.

Actually when I come to think of it, I think either Tesco or Comet also sold the BS series as well. There was no stopping them but I don't think they sell any of the commercial uprights any more (well, obviously Tesco since Comet, as we all know...).

Actually Argos did sell the X4

Noooooo they didn't, I've got the Argos catalogues which feature the Sebo's. They have the white X1.1 and the basic blue K1 Komfort, but no other models. They appeared in 3 cataogues - Autumn/Winter 2006, Sping/Summer 2007 and Autumn/Winter 2007 - before, as you mentioned, JL got pissed off at being undersold as Argos were selling the x1.1 for £199 and the K1 for £129, vs JL selling them for £249 and £149 respectively.

I remember very well Argos not stocking the X4 as it was around the same time I bought mine (with my first Christmas bonus from my first full time job when I was 17) and I originally intended to buy the x1.1 from Argos, but found the X4 online for the same price and went with that instead as Argos didn't stock it.

Oh I stand corrected. Sorry.

Quite alright ^_^

I only know myself because I've still got the catalogues and remember thinkning it was quite odd. It may have been that Argos sold the X4 as an online exclusive, but it's certainly not printed in their catalogues.
